Canadians recall Justin Trudeau’s fashion show in India and lambast him after Trump’s dignified visit to India

Look how Modi is treating Trump and how he ignored our nincompoop president, they said

Justin Trudeau, Namaste Trump, Donald Trump

While US President, Donald Trump’s India visit has turned out to be a grand success with the ‘Namaste Trump’ event at the Motera Cricket Stadium- the world’s largest in Ahmedabad turning out to be a spectacular show and the two countries making mutual progress in a range of sectors, the Canadian media seems to be fuming at their own Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau.

Trump’s dignified visit seems to have broad back the horrors of Justin Trudeau’s embarrassing visit to India almost two years ago. A Canadian media house- RebelNews report has brought to light all the blunders that Trudeau had committed on his India visit. It goes on to make a clear cut comparison between the visits of Donald Trump and Justin Trudeau to India.

From the cringy attires- poorly chosen glittery, supposedly traditional Indian dresses for a White Canadian PM that made him look rather ridiculous during his visit to bringing his own celebrity chef Vikram Vij at taxpayers’ money for what has been now mocked as flying “his own chef with him to cook Indian food in India because apparently, you don’t know how to cook Indian food in India. They need a chef from Canada to show them how to do that.”

What has also come into the limelight is Trudeau’s highly absurd, objectionable and provocative move to invite convicted Khalistani terrorist, Jaspal Atwal to India as a part of his retinue. The Canadian media is therefore not surprised why PM Modi gave a royal snub to Trudeau his India visit.

An embarrassed Canadian High Commissioner, Nadir Patel had to cancel Trudeau’s dinner invite to Atwal. On the other hand, the Ministry of External Affairs had stated that it would ascertain how Atwal entered India. This was a diplomatic humiliation for Trudeau of the worst kind.

While Donald Trump spoke of loyalty to India mentioning how the US will always be faithful and loyal towards India, Trudeau’s visit was overshadowed with his proximity to the Khalistani groups operative in Canada. The inclusion of open Khalistan supporters in his cabinet and his presence at a Khalsa Day event in Toronto where Khalistani flags were raised along with a portrait of slain Khalistani militant leader, Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale became the talking point during his India visit.

This is the reason why Trudeau got humiliated on his India visit. For starters, the Minister of State for Agriculture was sent to receive Justin Trudeau when he landed in India. Now, remember, Trudeau isn’t the insignificant Head of State of some small third-world country. Also, remember that this is an era where Prime Minister Modi himself receives several world leaders at the airport when they land in India. Considering the importance that the Prime Minister accords to a personal touch in his dealings with world leaders, sending a junior minister to receive Trudeau was in itself slap on the latter’s face.

On the other hand, PM Modi and President Trump started interacting on Twitter even before the latter landed in India.

On his arrival to India, PM Modi himself received US President Donald Trump and his family at the airport. This was obviously in sharp contrast to the royal snub that Trudeau was given during his India visit.

Not just PM Modi, the entire Indian political class had snubbed the Canadian Prime Minister. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath did not bother to meet him either. Punjab CM, Amarinder Singh did meet him but only to embarrass him further by raising the “Khalistan issue”.

On the other hand, both the Uttar Pradesh Governor and Chief Minister arrived at the Agra airport to receive the United States President.

Trudeau’s embarrassing visit is bound to leave the Canadians flummoxed given the rousing welcome that Trump got in India, wearing the Indian version of the “Make America Great Again” hat. The Canadian media has taken note of how thousands were lined up along the 22 km stretch when Trump drove to the Motera Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The RebelNews report has also emphasised the theme of the specular joint Modi-Trump event, ‘Namaste Trump‘. Attended by one lakh people, Trump was greeted with “namaste” which the report describes as “a very gracious way of saying hello.”

Trudeau’s 2018 visit to India was nothing short of a disastrous little vacation that made all possible blunders- over the top costumes, an invitation to a Khalistani terrorist and lack of diplomatic courtesy.

Trump, on the other hand, did not rely on extravagant, cringy costumes but on real and substantial dialogue. Trump spoke a few Hindi words that actually resonated with India, unlike Trudeau who ended up becoming a source of derision.

While Trump’s India visit has laid the foundation for closer Indo-US cooperation, it seems to have had a very deep impact in Canada as well, with Canadians recalling, and lambasting their Prime Minister for his uncourteous fashion show in India roughly two years ago.
