Former Mumbai Police Commissioner, Rakesh Maria, one of the most decorated police officers of the country has launched his autobiography ‘Let Me Say it now’.
In his autobiography, he has made an absolutely stunning disclosure- which exposes what seems like a deep rooted conspiracy behind the “Hindu terror” myth propagated by the Congress during the UPA era.
He has revealed that Kasab, a terrorist involved in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks was to die as a Hindu terrorist- a Bengaluru resident, Samir Chaudhari with a ‘red thread tied around his wrist’ had things gone according to what Lashkar-e-Taiba had planned.
In fact, Maria has further disclosed that 10 terrorists, including Ajmal Kasab who was arrested alive, were given fake ID cards with Hindu names on them. He has revealed that ISI had planned to portray the 26/11 terror attack as “Hindu terror”.
Maria’s disclosure carries a lot of weight given that it was Rakesh Maria who was in charge of the police control room when the dastardly terror attack took place and was also the first police officer to interrogate Ajmal Kasab, the sole surviving Pakistani terrorist of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).
As shocking as Maria’s revelations are, they must be viewed in the context of the Congress’ “Hindu terror” propaganda in the UPA era. While it was clear that LeT had plotted the terror attack, Digvijaya Singh had continued blaming the RSS over the 26/11 terror attacks anyway. He had claimed the attack to be an internal conspiracy of the RSS. Singh even went to the length of releasing books in this regard.
The LeT had planned to portray the 26/11 attacks as “Hindu terrorism” and later a senior Congress leader tried to impute the attack upon the RSS. Doesn’t this create a very negative impression, bordering on reprehension and extreme suspicion, of the grand old party.
And not just Digvijaya, the entire Congress machinery and leadership was busy raising the “Hindu terror” bogey in almost the same transaction in which the 26/11 terror attack took place.
There were several cases of alleged “Saffron Terrorism” in the UPA era. One of such cases is the Malegaon Blast case in 2008- the same year as the 26/11 attacks, in which Lt. Col Purohit alongside Sadhvi Pragya were the prime accused.
It was in the context of the Samjhauta Express and Malegaon blasts that the then Union Home Minister, P. Chidambaram had coined he term ‘Saffron Terrorism’.
Later nine years after the 2008 Malegaon blasts, NIA Director Sharad Kumar revealed that there was no direct evidence that could actually hold Lt Col. Purohit and Sadhvi Thakur responsible for either the Malegaon blasts or the Samjhauta Express blasts.
Till date, the Congress and Gandhi scion label Sadhvi Pragya as a “terrorist” even though their attempts to create and propagate the myth of “Saffron Terror” have fallen flat on their surface.
The dastardly 26/11 Mumbai attacks also took place broadly around the same time when Rahul Gandhi, claimed during an interaction with US ambassador that saffron terror is much more dangerous than Pakistan backed, internationally banned terror organization Lashkar-e-Taiba, according to leaked State department diplomatic cables.
Now, it comes out that the same Lashkar e Taiba that Rahul Gandhi was trying to exonerate as ‘not so dangerous’ had conspired to portray the Mumbai terror attacks as “Hindu terrorism”. One cannot help but notice what seems like a deep nexus between the grand old party’s attempts to profess the myth of ‘Hindu terrorism’.
Even Union Minister, Piyush Goyal has blamed the Congress over this revelation. He said, “I think it was a conspiracy by Congress, by the UPA. We have witnessed this before when Congress started the completely false Hindu terror term at the behest of Chidambaram”.
Even more importantly, he said, “Why the entire issue was spoken about right now? Why did Rakesh Maria reveal all this now? He should have revealed all of this when he was a police commissioner. If a senior police officer has got any information (according to the service rules), he should have taken action against it.”
Due to lack of investigation, there is missing link between LeT’s attempts to portray the 26/11 terror attacks as “Hindu terrorism” and Congress’ attempts to raise the bogey of Saffron terrorism. Either the LeT and ISI got emboldened after how the regime of the day had started framing innocent Hindus in terror cases, or worse the Congress may even have been in cahoots with the LeT and the ISI.
Intelligence failures and lack of an elaborate investigation into the matter leads to a plethora of questions about the suspicious role of the Congress led UPA as far as India’s national security and the fight against terrorism is concerned.
