Former Mizoram Governor-Swaraj Kaushal schooled the so-called intellectual and the blue-eyed man of Indian liberals-Shashi Tharoor in an epic way by terming him a troll. Tharoor questioned the former Governor and tried to set a baseless narrative against him. His attempt to flaunt his smartness over the Naseeruddin Shah –Anupam Kher spat failed miserably.

Swaraj, former Governor of Mizoram and husband of late Union minister Sushma Swaraj had tweeted a thread, supporting Anupam Kher since Naseeruddin Shah had termed him a clown and a sycophant. “Mr Naseeruddin Shah, you are an ungrateful man. This country gave you all the name, fame and money. Yet you are a disillusioned man. You married outside your religion. No one ever said a word. Your brother became Lt.General of the Indian Army. Have you not been given more,” Swaraj had said to which Tharoor got offended.

Only to get slammed, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor tried to create a false narrative of ‘anti-national’, saying, “Governor Sahib, is it now anti-national to marry outside your religion? Or to criticise @AnupamPKher? you are entitled to defend a friend, but surely not on the kinds of grounds listed in this unfortunate tweet.”

Putting salt on the liberals’ wound, Swaraj befittingly replied to Tharoor, “Please note my new address: Swaraj Kaushal C/o Shashi Tharoor Mohalla Gaaliwalan, Clown Street, Twitter, India.” People on Twitter were amused by this humorous reply of Swaraj.

The controversy had erupted when veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah showed his frustration against his colleague Anupam Kher in an interview and termed him “a clown” and “sycophant”. Anupam Kher, too, hit back saying, “The substances you have been consuming for years have taken away your sense of judging what is right and what is not.”

Notably, Swaraj has exposed the hypocrisy of Naseeruddin Shah, “Yet you are unhappy. You speak of apathy and discrimination. When you do all the blabbering, it is your ‘conscience’. When Anupam speaks his pain on being declared homeless in his own country, it is ‘sycophancy’. You are being thankless to the country that gave you everything.” He added, “of Kashmir. Is he not entitled to weep out his pain? What is it that you have and Anupam Kher does not have? You think you are a better actor than Anupam Kher? You are sadly mistaken.” country that gave you everything. Kirron has been twice elected as a Member of Parliament. Anupam is a star in his own right. Look at his response. It is that of a gentleman. When you spoke, you looked small and petty. Suffice it to say that your anger is your frustration.”

Citing Congress’ record of Muslim appeasement, Tharoor’s stance is not surprising while Naseeruddin Shah is a known hypocrite. Shah’s rants against Anupam Kher depicts frustration and his intolerance for diverse political views. He had previously too attempted to malign the image of Modi government. Aligning with people like Harsh Mander and his ‘Karwan-e-Mohabbat’, Naseeruddin Shah had proved his hypocritical credentials. Now with abusing Anupam Kher, he has shown his wisdom and bigot mindset.
