As the focus shifts towards the crucial finance budget, the anti-CAA voices seems to have died down as the government’s outreach program is yielding results. However, the violence continues unabated in the name of protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act. The amount of fear and misinformation spread across the country by Opposition parties are showing the results today.

In Rajasthan’s Kota, a woman was attacked (mistakenly) after the culprits thought she was conducting survey for NRC, NPR. In Kota, the woman attacked was a surveyor from the National Economic Census department collecting data for the National Economics Census 2019- 20 in Brijdham area. Nazeeran Bano was let off only after she was able to convince the crowd that she was also a Muslim like them.

Such was the hatred that her phone was snatched and all the data that she had collected for the economic census was deleted. The crowd only let her go after she was forced to prove that she is indeed a Muslim by reciting a verse from the Quran and were finally pacified after Bano showed them the Ayat Al-Kursi (The Throne Verse) card. “I explained them that the data collected was related to the economic census and had been uploaded on the portal, and that there was nothing wrong in it. But they were not convinced and started misbehaving with me,” Bano was quoted.

West Bengal under the tenure of Mamata Banerjee has witnessed rising lawlessness. In Birbhum, 20-year-old Chumki Khatun was targeted by the local villagers as they suspected that she was working for the NRC. Turns out Khatun was working for Google India and Tata Trusts’ digital literacy initiative for rural women, Internet Saathi. The women’s home was set ablaze and her family was forced to take refuge in a local police station. Of course, no arrests have been made in connection to the case, till date.

The protests at Shaheen Bag have been glorified as if a revolution is taking place in India by the left liberals. On the contrary, it is nothing but a radical islamist agitation which can be seen in the case of Deepa Sharma. Speaking with India Today TV in Jaipur, Deepa Sharma claimed that she was trying to know the views of an old man protesting against the CAA at Shaheen Bagh when a mob comprising of mainly young men, snatched her phone, her bag and started threatening her. “I was trying to make a video of an old man. I asked him why you have come over here. I took his permission to make a video. I made the video in which what he was saying was captured. He said that in the CAA, ‘people would be asked for documents and that we would be thrown out of the country.”

She further added, “I told him that CAA is neither for Indian Muslims nor for Indian Hindus. He did not understand that. I asked him the meaning of CAA but he could not tell. I asked for its full form but he could not tell me even that.”

In Communist hotbed Kerala, two woman census officials were attacked when they visited the house of Mr Sainudeen at Chitara near Irukkuzhi for the enumeration purpose and according to sources, Sainudeen and his family members attacked the census officials alleging that they came for collecting datas for National Population Register. ASHA worker Maheswari Amma, who is in her 50s, was with a group of other ASHA workers to administer polio vaccine in the statewide drive held on January 19. However, she was thrashed by Sainudeen’s family after they thought that the ASHA workers were collecting information for the National Register of Citizens.

The series of events signal how much the opposition’s misinformation campaign has created hatred across the country. While the government has succeeded in passing the CAB in both the houses of the parliament, it will be a herculean task to implement the CAA given the rise in violence in Opposition ruled states,
