He wanted to secede NE from India, now he is on the run as over 5 state police forces chase him

Bhag, Sharjeel, Bhag!

Sharjeel Imam, JNU, siliguri corridor,

As over 5 states have filed an FIR against the organiser of the Shaheen Bagh protest, Sharjeel Imam, he is absconding while his sympathisers are beating their chest for this prompt action of the states including Northeastern states for his venomous and seditious plan.

Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Delhi and UP police have registered cases inappropriate sections including 124A and under UAPA laws depicting the deep trouble that the Islamist Sharjeel Imam is about to face. A joint team of Delhi police, UP and Bihar police have even initiated the search operation according to several news reports. The police have even conducted a raid in his ancestral home in Jehanabad district, Bihar.

Realizing the self-invited trouble of his son, Sharjeel’s mother has issued a statement, “Sharjeel Imam is being victimised for a statement that was twisted and taken out of context by the media. However, the police and state authorities, against whose high-handedness Sharjeel protested, are now harassing and threatening his family members.”

Notably, Imam has announced that with the help of only 5 lakh people, his gang can easily engineer the break-up of India by amputating Northeast India from the rest of the country. “Cutting off Assam is our responsibility. Let Assam and India be separated, only then they will listen to us. You know what the condition of Muslims is in Assam, CAA, NRC has been done over there, people have been thrown in detention camps and well, the massacre is taking place over there but in the next 6-8 months, we will find that all Bengalis have been killed, be it Hindu or Muslim. So, if we want to help Assam, we ill have to close the gateway to the northeast,” says Sharjeel Imam. He suggests blocking railroads so that supplies from India and most importantly the Army cannot pass.

Imam referred to the Siliguri Corridor or the Chicken’s Neck, a 22 kilometre narrow stretch of land which connects the northeast with the rest of India and is crucial for the country’s security. “The Chicken’s neck belongs to the Muslims, that area is dominated by Muslims,” Sharjeel Imam said, the mastermind of the Shaheen Bagh protests. He adds that Kanhaiya has given many hefty speeches but has not done anything “productive” clearly stating that the call for the break-up of India needs to be followed by the deed itself, and that is exactly his intent.

This speech by Sharjeel Imam, besides being highly inflammatory, is clearly inciting terror right from the national capital of India.

According to Delhi police, a case against Imam under IPC sections 124 A (an offence by words, either spoken or written cause disaffection against Government established by law), 153 A (promoting enmity between different religious groups with an intent to create disharmony) and 505 (statements conducing to public mischief) has been registered. Delhi police said, “He had previously delivered one such speech in Jamia Millia Islamia on December 13 last year and thereafter one even more inflammatory against the government which is being widely circulated on social media,” police said.

A case of sedition was also lodged against Imam for a speech he delivered on the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) campus on January 16. The Assam police have also filed an FIR under the anti-terror law UAPA against Imam for his speech.

Assam’s Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated, “I am aghast at this brazen attempt by this person to create unrest in the country. He is seen inciting people and talking about his strategy to cut off Assam & North East from rest of India. We have taken cognisance and pursuing the matter to book this person as per law,” Sarma tweeted.

The Arunachal Pradesh police have followed the Assam police in filing a case against Sharjeel Imam, an activist protesting against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) at Shaheen Bagh, for “spewing venom” against the north-eastern States. The Manipur police have also lodged an FIR against former JNU student Sharjeel Imam for his “seditious”, he has been charged under IPC sections 121 A(conspiracy to wage war against India), 124 A (sedition), 120B (criminal conspiracy) and 153 which relates to “promoting enmity between different religious groups with an intent to create disharmony”, the police said.

Sharjeel and his sympathisers have realized that while he is about to pay the price for his mischief, his plan has exposed the real tenets of the Shaheen Bagh and other anti-CAA protests. The prompt action by the police of different states suggests he would be given a legendary treatment.
