“Forgive and forget”, Uber feminist lawyer Indira Jaising suggests Nirbhaya’s mother. She rips her apart

The truth about candle brigade activists

Indira jaisingh, Nirbhaya

Indira Jaising’s ‘suggestion’ on forgiving the rapists of Nirbhaya is nothing less than a disgusting opinion. The Senior Advocate Indira Jaising suggests her to follow the example of Sonia Gandhi and forgive the rapists. Nirbhaya’s mother rightfully slammed her for insensitivity towards the rape victims and their families. Nirbhaya’s mother told ANI she “can’t believe” how Jaising dared suggest this, and said it is “because of people like her (that) justice is not done with rape victims”.

Rejecting the insensitive suggestion of the lawyer, Asha Devi angrily responded saying, “Who is Indira Jaising to give me such a suggestion? Whole country wants the convicts to be executed. Just because of people like her, justice is not done with rape victims,” Asha Devi was quoted as saying by news agency ANI. Nirbhaya’s mother claimed that she had met Indira Jaising many times in the Supreme Court but “not once” was the senior advocate concerned about her well being. “Today she is speaking for the convicts. Such people earn livelihood by supporting rapists, hence rape incidents don’t stop,” Nirbhaya’s mother said.

Nirbhaya’s father too slammed the senior lawyer Indira Jaising for her awful remarks, Badrinath Singh also angrily stated that people like Indira Jaising earned a livelihood by supporting rapists.

Notably, controversial lawyer Indira Jaising had said in a tweet, “While I fully identify with the pain of Asha Devi I urge her to follow the example of Sonia Gandhi who forgave Nalini and said she didn’t not want the death penalty for her. We are with you but against death penalty,” she added. She was referring to a video of Asha Devi in which she was urging the politicians to ensure justice in Nirbhaya case. Jaising cited the example of Nalini, who was arrested and convicted for her role in the assassination of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in 1991.

The parents of Nirbhaya were disturbed as the execution of the convicts was postponed. The death-row convicts who were earlier slated to be executed on January 22 at 7 am will now be hanged on February 1 at 6 am. Earlier on Friday, Asha Devi had slammed out at political parties and urged them to ensure swift justice in Nirbhaya case.

Senior advocate Indira Jaising’s comments mark insensitivity and ignore the pain and sufferings of the rape victims and their families.

Jaising’s citing the example of Sonia Gandhi is also equally awful and condemnable. Jaising has always taken a stand opposite to the sentiments of people of the country.
