Forget Babul Supriyo and Guv Dhankar, left-dominated Jadavpur University shuns even its own students if they are right-wing

Jadavpur University, babul, leftists

The Leftists always complain of the supposed ‘intolerant’ attitude of the Central Government as they position themselves as the harbingers of free-speech. The events that have conspired in Jadavpur University are proof that the leftists only believe in practising selective freedom of expression as they muzzle any dissenting voice. The leftist cabal of Jadavpur University was recently in the news when some brainwashed students on their convocation day tore their degrees to protest against the ‘unconstitutional’ CAA and NRC.

The same set of students also didn’t allow West Bengal Governor Dhankar, and BJP MP Babul Supriyo, to enter the premises of the university. Now, taking intolerance to a brand new level, the leftist cabal in the university are heckling, abusing and boycotting fellow mates who don’t follow their ideology. Any student who is found to be supporting either the CAA or the BJP is bullied and boycotted when they attend classes.

Suranjan Sarkar, a first-year student of mass communication at the university and assistant secretary of ABVP’s state unit, was allegedly boycotted by his classmates after the protest on campus during Babul Supriyo’s visit a few months ago and the vandalism that followed.

“Whenever I tried to attend classes, they would walk out. Posters were put up, telling students not to attend any class with me. Even if I wanted to sit on the backbench, they would walk out. I was surprised at such behaviour when it came to studies. They might not agree with my political ideology, but why should they stop me from attending a lecture?” Sarkar said.

ABVP students are often subjected to abuse owing to their political allegiance while some were bullied when talking to their peers, others were allegedly abused on the university campus. The targeted students were deterred from raising their voice against the rampant discrimination in the fear of a massive backlash from the students’ union. Rajya Sabha MP Swapan Dasgupta took to Facebook and Twitter to highlight the rampant discrimination at the Jadavpur University.

Dasgupta writes: “Yesterday, I met a BJP student of Jadavpur University. He said that his fellow students would not allow him to attend class because they could not be in the same class as a ‘fascist’. His professors told him that in endorsing BJP, he was being wilfully ‘provocative’. This is the grim reality of some institutions in Bengal who lecture us on democracy.”

The leftists when it comes to furthering their propaganda become the champions of freedom of speech and expression. However, when met with a dissenting voice, the so-called protectors of democracy without wasting a second, attempt to muzzle those who dare to say a word against them. It is shameful that India’s institutions are becoming just another leftist ghetto. It seems that the students of Jadavpur University are aiming to ape their fellow communists at JNU, which is often in the news for all the wrong reasons.

Recently, the left-leaning JNU students protesting against the fee hike allegedly attacked, abused and roughed up the right-leaning teachers. This is not the first time JNU students have allegedly resorted to hooliganism. They crossed yet another line as they heckled the female reporters covering their protest, misbehaving with them. The reporters were covering the protest against the fee hike of hostels in JNU and other facilities.

Previously, the statue of Vivekananda was allegedly vandalised by a group of students. The statue of Vivekananda was soon to be inaugurated at the university. Born as Narendranath Dutta, Swami Vivekananda, an ex-barrister, took the mantle of his Guru, Shri Ramakrishna Paramhansa’s teachings and spread the charm and aura of Sanatan Dharma throughout the world. The unlawful activities have become an everyday occurrence in JNU. From anti-national slogans to illegal trafficking banned drugs, holding the Vice-Chancellor and professor hostage for hours, JNU has been in news for all the wrong reasons for years. JNU is a ‘promised land’ to adherents of Communism. The extreme freedom of expression, ideas, clothing for which space around the world is shrinking can find space in the Promised Land. The slogans like- Lal Salaam, We Shall Fight, We Shall Win, Brahmanvad Ho Barbaad, Bharat Tere Tukde Hoge Inshallah Inshallah, Kashmir ki Azaadi Se Bharat ki Barbaadi Tak Jang Rahegi Jang Rahegi could be heard only inside the boundary walls of JNU.

The incidents that have taken place in Jadavpur University and the Jawaharlal Nehru University are further proof that the leftists are completely intolerant to opposing views.
