Smriti Irani has had a very serious and feisty approach with her politics especially since the time she took on Rahul Gandhi in his bastion, Amethi. After losing marginally against him in 2014, she took to serving the people of Amethi anyway and snatched Rahul Gandhi’s constituency from him in 2019 as the Gandhi scion lost by over 55,000 votes. It was at this point when Smriti Irani proved her mettle to one and all, leaving her critics dumbfounded.
Irani has been often hounded by the opposition over various matters during her stint in the HRD ministry, from questioning her over her qualifications and to belittling her for being a former TV actress as Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam in 2012, during a TV debate said, “Aap to TV pe thumke lagati thi, aaj chunavi visleshak ban gayi!!!” (You used to charge money to perform dance shows on TV, and now you have become a psephologist).
Smriti Irani has handled ugly politics like a boss. She is a good orator, factually on point and a nightmare for those who engage in debates with her which was evident from her fiery debate against Kamal Haasan. Irani began with a wisecrack on Kamal Haasan’s comment, as she said, “If 2019 is a sign of things to come, ladies and gentlemen, let it be said, Kamal Haasan would be sitting on the right today” in a clear attack on the ideological clash between the left-wing and the right-wing ideologies. The debate made it to the headlines as the politician Smriti Irani went hammer and tongs after Kamal Haasan and shattered his arguments with facts.
So she is clearly a warrior on the political front, however, unlike many Smriti Irani takes a break from serious political and administrative conquests to just be extremely relatable with a shockingly brilliant sense of humour that resonates with the youth. Her best is seen on her Instagram profile where she cherishes moments with her family and even parodies herself to crack jokes that get the youth talking about this BJP leader.
Smriti hopped on to the bandwagon as UP CM Yogi Adityanath went on a name changing spree to correct historical inaccuracies. She clearly showed that she didn’t mind taking a harmless potshot at one of her colleagues in the BJP.
Much had been made about Smriti’s degree during her stint as the HRD Minister and with this meme she showed her brilliant sense of humour at her own expense.
