Congress’ history tells us that it cannot refrain itself from corruption, be it Bofors, 2G or Agusta Westland scam, Congress has always been innovative when it comes to corruption.
Assam government has found while reviewing the school education department that over 3 Lakh ghost children were enrolled in government schools during the previous Congress regime in order to embezzle the public money
Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal in a press release alluded towards a massive corruption scam during the Congress government in the state. He has warned that strict action would be taken against those found guilty. In a press statement issued by Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal’s office, the government alleged that it has found that that the previous administration had shown these fake figures in government schools for embezzling public money in the name of text-books, mid-day meals, uniforms for these non-existent students. CM Sonowal unearthed this scam as he reviewed the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), Assam which includes Elementary, Secondary and Teacher Education Departments.
In the review meeting, officials said that the number of students studying in government and provincialised schools in 2018-19 was around 46 Lakh, lower than the 49 Lakh figure of 2016-17 session. It was highlighted in the meeting that the Education Department had identified around 86 Lakh out-of-school children of whom around 63 Lakh children were brought into the formal education system till December 2019, the Chief Minister’s office further added.
This hardly the first time when the corrupt mindset of the Congress has come to fore, it has always taken pride in swallowing public money. In a similar revelation, a day after the portfolio allocation to the newly inducted Ministers in Uddhav Thackeray’s cabinet was announced, a shocking clarion call in favour of mass corruption had been made by one of Thackeray’s Minister, Yashomati Thakur. Thakur is the Women and Child Development Minister of Maharashtra and belongs to the Congress party.
The Congress leader had stated while speaking at a campaign rally for the Zila Parishad polls in Amravati that, “We didn’t have a government before and now we have taken the oath of office… but we are yet to fill our pockets,” the MLA from Amravati, Yashomati Thakur had said. She added, “The people in opposition are fully stocked with money but if they come to your house (to offer money), then don’t say no. Why drive Lakshmi away?”
With the unearthing of this scam in Assam, Congress has assured the people that its mindset and corrupt mentality would never change. After forming a government in any state corruption (Jeb Garam) is the first thought which crosses Congress’ mind. The government must ensure proper investigation in the matter so that the culprits could be punished.
