Academicians write to PM Modi about left-wing violence and censorship of independent voices

The left-wing, which seems to have lost balance and stability after Modi government’s historic decision of introducing the CAA, has been resorting to violence at University campuses across the country. While there have been clear markings of involvement of left-wing outfits in such cases of campus violence, there have been desperate attempts to shift the blame onto the government and police forces instead.

However, the leftist cabal and outfits fomenting violence in some University campuses across the country now stand exposed as 200 academicians, including vice-chancellors of universities, have written to PM Modi about incidents of violence in campuses across the country.

Expressing concern over such violent agitations, the academicians have stated that the universities are being turned into “islands of ossified worldviews.” The academicians who signed the statement include Hari Singh Gour University VC R P Tiwari, Central University of South Bihar VC HCS Rathore and Sardar Patel University VC Shirish Kulkarni, among other others.

The statement unambiguously and unequivocally exposes the role of leftist outfits behind the violent agitations in varsity campuses. It read, “The recent turn of events on the campuses from JNU to Jamia, from AMU to Jadavpur alarms us to the deteriorating academic environment due to the shenanigans of a small coterie of left-wing activists.”

The letter exposed how the “censorship imposed by left-wing politics” has made it difficult to “organise public talks or to speak independently” at the campuses. The letter further stated, “Strikes, dharnas and shutdowns over maximalist demands are common in left strongholds. Personal targeting, public slandering and harassment for not conforming to the left ideology is on increase.”

The letter also goes on to state, “They also lose out on the freedom to articulate their own views and alternative politics. They find themselves constrained to conform to the majoritarian left politics.” The letter has called for academic freedom and has at the same time also emphasised upon how violent incidents are turning students into political activists rather than learners.

It must be noted that even in case of JNU violence on January 5, TFIPOST had pointed out how there were clear markings of leftist violence on the campus of the Central University, followed by an attempt to shift the blame on the ABVP.

Earlier, TFIPOST had pointed out how the anti CAA movement was neither spontaneous nor a student-led movement. All such facts only get further corroborated by the manner in which academicians, including Vice-Chancellors of certain Central Varsities have now exposed the sinister conspiracy of certain leftist organisations behind the violent agitations at several University campuses.

The CAA-NRC protests never had the legitimacy or the steam to capture the nation’s imagination. Therefore, the leftist organisations found it fit to attack University campuses, hijack them and to impede the regular academic activity of such institutions.

The object of the leftist organisations was to give a sharp spin to the anti-CAA-NRC protests and make a political issue out of it by fomenting violence and then blaming the police forces, the Modi government and the ABVP for such incidents. However, their insidious motives have been nipped in the bud by academicians’ letter to Prime Minister Modi.
