Kailaasa, the so called Hindu country established by Nithyananda will end up being another Rajneeshpuram

A stupid idea and an idea bad for the reputation of Hindus

Kailaasa, Nithyananda

Nithyananda referred to as Swamy by his ‘believers’ has fled India as a fugitive, bought an Island and set up a ‘Hindu Rashtra’ by the name ‘Kailaasa’. The man may have hoped that him setting up a Hindu nation would impress people back in India, however, the move has backfired and Indians are considering him nothing more than an absconding fool.

Nithyananda is believed to have purchased an island from Ecuador, a country located in South America’s west coast. The island would, by implication, be in close proximity to Ecuador.

Back in India, the self-styled fake Godman is wanted by agencies on charges of rape, torture, kidnapping and forced confinement of children.

Recently, Nithyananda was leased land belonging to a CBSE school for setting up his ashram, following which CBSE revoked the school’s affiliation.

Meanwhile, Nithyananda has perhaps begun expecting tourists to his new Hindu country, as ‘Kailaasa’ now boasts of a website and Wikipedia page, called ‘Nithyanandapedia’. According to the website, Kailaasa (kailaasa.org) offers a “safe haven to all the world’s practising, aspiring or persecuted Hindus…where they can peacefully live and express their spirituality, arts, and culture free from denigration, interference and violence.” The website claims Kailasaa also has its own cabinet comprising departments such as health, technology, enlightened civilisation, human services, housing, commerce, and treasury. Kailaasa stands for universal free healthcare, free education, free food, and the revival of temple-based lifestyle, says the website. It also flaunts its own passport and flag, and claims to host a population of two billion Hindus! If things could get any more absurd, it also claims to have 100 million ‘Adi Shaivites’. The total population of India is 1.3 billion. How Nithyananda got hold of 2 billion Hindus for his small island nation is a wonder in itself. Further, the nation claims to have a state religion, called ‘Sanatan Hindu Dharma‘.

The man is making a mockery of Hinduism and India. It is an outright attempt to defame India and the Hindu way of life in the eyes of the world community, who might not be aware of the man’s misdeeds and crimes, and might form a generalized and opaque opinion about Hindus.

In the 1980s, a similar stunt of creating a Hindu-like cult was attempted in Oregon, United States, by Osho and his followers. The town they set up, called ‘Rajneeshpuram’ became a sex den, and illegal activities were also reported. The town became a headache for the United States, which had to chase out the cult forcibly. This led to widespread criticism of Hindus in general, as people in the United States were made to believe that everyone in India had similar tendencies.

The Indian government must swiftly act upon this absconding fugitive and prevent him from defaming the Hindu civilization. The foolishness of one man should not be a reason as to why Hindus across the world should be mocked. In any case, there are plenty of Hindu baiters who are ever ready to make a mockery of our civilization. It is about time India does a surgical strike on Nithyananda’s ‘nation’, and extracts the fraudulent godman before it is too late.
