In what is a clear manifestation of a deep sense of entitlement and intolerance within the leftist intellectual circles, Irfan Habib, who is infamous for distorting historical facts heckled Kerala Governor, Arif Mohammed Khan during the Governor’s inaugural address at the Indian History Congress at Kannur, Kerala.
Kerala Governer, Arif Mohammad Khan was the Chief guest at the event. Some speakers before Khan, including Irfan Habib, had raised the issue of the Citizenship Amendment Act. When Arif Mohd Khan started speaking about this issue and touched upon the protests against the CAA, Irfan Habib went bonkers and got up from his seat to physically stop him. Some delegates joined Irfan Habib in his shameful attempt to heckle and shout down the Kerala Governer, a Constitutional authority.
This is how a governor of an Indian state is treated, by leftist fake historians. And then THEY talk about #Intolerance. #IrfanHabib is a thug, who can not tolerate anyone holding a point of view different from his. https://t.co/PvvsrtewKc

Khan repeatedly said, “You have every right to protest. But you cannot shout me down,” even as intolerant leftists led by Habib continued to heckle him. He also said, “when you shut the door for debate and discussion, you are promoting a culture of violence.”
In fact, a tweet from the official Kerala Governor handle stated, “Inaugural meet of Indian History Congress does not raise controversies. But at 80th session at Kannur University, Shri Irfan Habib raised some points on CAA. But, when Hon’ble Governor addressed these points, Sh. Habib rose from seat to physically stop him, as clear from video.” Another tweet stated, “Shri #IrfanHabib tried on stage to disrupt inaugural address questioning Hon’ble Governor’s right to quote #MaulanaAbdulKalamAzad, shouting that he should quote Godse. He pushed Hon’ble Governor’s ADC&SecurityOfficer, who prevented his unseemly gesture.”

The manner in which Irfan Habib disrupted is not only undemocratic and intolerant, but also exposes the violent tendency of the leftist cabal. It is not surprising that the anti CAA protests turned violent. If Irfan Habib can manhandle and push the Governor’s ADC & Security Officer at such a high profile function and also try to physically stop the Governor from speaking, then it does not really come as a surprise that the anti CAA protests took shape of violent riots. After all, the likes of Irfan Habib only are leading such protests.
The desperation of Irfan Habib does not come as much of a surprise. The ace history distorter has clearly lost the privilege of brainwashing youth and teenagers through his historical fiction, with his falsehoods getting continuously exposed. Due to the prevalent leftist bias of the Indian historians, a certain section of the country worships the Mughals despite their atrocities as the historians like Irfan Habib have successfully brainwashed the youth through his biased work. Habib was also at the forefront of those “eminent” historians who delayed the Ayodhya verdict by discrediting the ASI’s findings in front of the Allahabad HC and misleading an entire nation. With the Supreme Court verdict on Ayodhya, the likes of Irfan Habib have got exposed all over again.
The manner in which Habib heckled and shouted down the Kerala Governor is bound to go down as one of the ugliest incidents in India’s democratic discourse. It is a sacrilege of India’s Constitutional and democratic values. If the likes of Habib can manhandle the ADC & Security Officer of the Governor and try to physically stop the Governor from speaking, one can only imagine the extent to which such “eminent” historians can go if an ordinary citizen does not toe their line. This incident exposes the intolerance and violent character that is inherent in left extremists.
