After his Jamia-Jallianwala remark Fadnavis rips apart Uddhav for belittling his father’s legacy

With Shiv Sena at the mercy of Congress party to run the coalition government, it is evident that the party has no right to claim the legacy of Bala Saheb Thackeray. In five decades of his political career, Bala Saheb Thackeray always saw Congress and NCP as opponents. Bala Saheb Thackeray has been a vocal opponent of Congress party, especially after Sonia Gandhi started controlling the party in the late 90s. Thackeray ferociously opposed Sonia Gandhi’s entry into politics and said that it would be better to hand over the country to British, rather than governed by an Italian lady. In November 2012, a few days before the death, Bala Saheb Thackeray called Congress party ‘cancer’ in a video message. “Overthrow the Congress governments in the state and at the Centre, which are a cancer,” said late Hindutva icon.

Fadnavis slammed Uddhav for insulting the legacy of his own father, the Hindutva icon, Balasaheb Thackeray.

Taking a jibe at Thackeray on his reported promise to Balasaheb Thackeray about having a Sena CM one day, Fadnavis said, “Did he (Uddhav) inform senior Thackeray that the goal would be achieved with the help of Congress and NCP?”

Former CM Devendra Fadnavis also slammed the CM for his irresponsible and condemnable comparison of the anti CAA protests in Jamia with the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.

Jallianwala Bagh massacre was a day of Baisakhi when General Dyre along with his men brutally massacred thousands gathered in the Jallianwala Bagh to celebrate the occasion, Dyre opened fire on these innocent people ensuring that no one escapes from the venue. To the surprise of everyone who has studied about the Jallianwala bagh Massacre in the history books, Uddhav Thackeray who has recently turned secular in order to make his government in Maharashtra, compared the police action on violent Jamia protestors to the horrible Jallianwala Bagh Massacre. 

Fadnavis asked in a tweet, “Equating Jamia University incident with Jallianwala Bagh massacre by CM Uddhav ji Thackeray is big big insult to all the martyrs who have sacrificed their life for our Nation.

 Entire Nation & Maharashtra wants to know if Uddhav ji agrees with these slogans?”

Clarifying on the CAA and NRC, Devendra Fadnavis has also told the state assembly that there is no relation between the NRC and CAA. He has urged the people to stop the misinformation related to this issue. 

Notably, Uddhav Thackeray had told the reporters outside the Vidhan Bhawan that an ‘atmosphere of fear’ was being created with police crackdown. “There is a deliberate attempt to create an atmosphere of unrest in society. The way police opened fire on students by forcefully entering the compound, it appeared like the Jalianwala Bagh massacre,” he had said. The Jallianwala Bagh massacre took place on April 13, 1919, when Acting Brigadier-General Reginald Dyer had ordered troops of the British Indian Army to fire their rifles into a crowd of unarmed Punjabi civilians in Jallianwala Bagh on the auspicious day of Baisakhi in Amritsar, Punjab. 

He had also stated, “In a country or a state where the youth are angry, there cannot be peace. The youth are our strength. We will soon be the country with the highest number of youth. Youth power is a bomb and I request the government not to ignite it.”

Shiv Sena and its master Uddhav are clueless about their political ground, they have garnered votes in the name of Hindutva but surprisingly now they are trying everything to become a pseudo-secular. The hypocrisy of Uddhav is based on his narrow political aspiration, which is also the reason for ditching his Hindutva ally BJP. 

Comparing a police action for maintaining law and order to a colonial massacre is deplorable, he should apologise for this. With this sort of pseudo-secular stances, he has confirmed that he has turned into a fulltime stooge of the Congress party. In order to prove his loyalty to the secular Congress, Uddhav Thackeray seems to have gone full liberal by drawing an analogy between the two events. 

Since he has become the CM, Uddhav has been enviously trying to look as an alternative of Devendra Fadnavis, with stalling the progress in a series of projects of the then BJP government including the bullet train project and the Aarey project. As his party does not have a majority, Uddhav is trying to be as acceptable and sharp as Devendra Fadnavis, however, he has end up making a fool of him by giving such pathetic statements.
