The Citizenship Amendment Bill has now become an act with the assent of the President of India. This bill aims to give citizenship to the oppressed minorities of Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh, be it Hindus or Sikhs or Christians or even Parsis. The bill was ratified unanimously by both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. However, aghast with the fact that this bill does not give any special privileges to the Muslims, the opposition, led by the wily Congress, is leaving no stone unturned in order to put the BJP led Central Government at the backfoot.
From instigating violent protests in Assam, Meghalaya and now Bengal to moving absurd petitions in the Supreme Court, the Congress is trying its best to make themselves relevant. In this pursuit, they’re even ready to sully the image of India in order to gain an advantage in the anti CAB movement. According to a tweet by the Indian Overseas Congress’ official account, the Congress has decided to protest against the CAB bill in the name of ‘Bharat Bachao’ rally across the Indian embassies –
Supporting the @INCIndia call of #BharatBachao, please join @INCOverseas units in Europe on Dec 14th to gather in front of Indian embassies to protest against the massive failures of the @BJP4India government pic.twitter.com/hjiFQPhk11

We need no rocket science to understand who will spearhead these protests abroad. Indian Overseas Congress is the faction of Congress administered by Sam Pitroda, the man well known as the brain behind the alleged ‘telecom revolution’ of the 80s and the mentor to Rahul Gandhi. Confirming his stance on the CAB Bill, Sam said in a statement to the press, “IOC units across the world will protest in front of the Indian embassies. This will be done in solidarity with the ‘Bharat Bachao rally’ in Delhi.”
There have been 8 such protest rallies designated for abroad. The protests shall take in the Indian embassies situated in New York, Hamburg, apart from the offices of Indian High Commission situated in London, Dublin. Apart from the above, protests shall also be organized at Australia, Oman, Saudi Arabia and New Zealand.
It looks like Congress has left whatever shame it had, and is now resorting to sullying the image of India by every means possible. However, it is not the first time that Sam Pitroda has resorted to such theatrics. Like Mani Shankar Aiyar aided BJP’s ascent to power in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, it was Sam Pitroda’s nonsensical campaigning for Congress during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections that ended up helping BJP’s cause instead.
To begin with, he mocked the decision to bombard the terror camps through airstrikes in retribution for the dastardly Pulwama attack, saying that for a few people, one cannot hold an entire nation responsible. To quote him, “Don’t know much about attacks. It happens all the time. The attack happened in Mumbai also, we could have then reacted and just sent our planes but that is not right approach. According to me that’s not how you deal with world. Eight people (26/11 terrorists) come and do something, you don’t jump on entire nation (Pakistan). Naive to assume that just because some people came here and attacked, every citizen of that nation is to be blamed. I don’t believe in that way.”
However, Sam Pitroda just did not stop at it. He not only justified the possible raise in taxes should Congress win and implement their NYAY scheme but also mocked the Sikh community for the 1984 genocide, saying ‘Hua to Hua.’ Also, this is not the first time that Sam Pitroda’s Indian Overseas Congress has backed something that is inherently anti-Indian.
In August, when Labor Party leader Jeremy Corbyn passed a resolution against the abrogation of the special status provisions of Article 370, the Indian Overseas Congress members were the first ones to back him, even as he was clear in his plans to back anti-Indian elements, especially the radical Islamists and Khalistanis. It is another matter that Jeremy Corbyn was knocked out in the 2019 UK elections.
Like Barkha Dutt and Kapil Sibal, Sam Pitroda is undoubtedly the Midas with the reverse touch. Whatever he lays his hands upon, turns into trash. The Indian Overseas Congress under his patronage supported the ultra-leftist Jeremy Bernard Corbyn, and he bit the dust in the 2019 UK general elections. Now, with the anti-Indian protests he’s planned, Sam Pitroda is ensuring a nice funeral for Congress by the time 2024 general elections in India end.
