As Shiv Sena is hell-bent on obliterating itself by the suicidal move of allying with the NCP and Congress, the hard work of Devendra Fadnavis is still showing as the critical BKC-Chunabhatti flyover was thrown open yesterday which will drastically reduce the commute time. Throughout the tenure of Devendra Fadnavis, he has focused on development projects and perhaps this is a major reason why the people of Maharashtra gave a mandate for five more years of Devendra Fadnavis which Shiv Sena is all set to disrespect it by joining hands with the NCP and Congress.
The flyover connects the business hub of Bandra Kurla Complex to the Eastern Express Highway, cutting commute times drastically. It will also ease traffic on the Western Express Highway that sees a lot of rush from Dharavi, Sion and Chunabatti towards BKC. The flyover starts from G-Block of Bandra Kurla Complex and after crossing Mithi River, LBS Marg, Central Railway tracks and V N Mankikar Road leads to the Chunabhatti railway station.
The flyover is 1.6-km long and 17-meter wide. Vehicle owners using this four-lane flyover to reach the Bandra-Kurla Complex or the Eastern Express Highway are expected to cut their travel time by about 30 minutes. The project was commissioned in 2014 and the estimated cost of the project is Rs 156 crore.
This 1.6-km long, 17-meter wide and 4-lane Bandra-Kurla Complex to Chunabhatti Connector will also ease traffic towards Thane-Nashik & Panvel-Pune.
This 4-lane Connector will also provide faster connectivity to and from the Eastern Express Highway.

The flyover is just one of the slew of projects which saw the light of the day under the Fadnavis administration. Upon taking charge of the CMs office, Devendra Fadnavis embarked on an ambitious plan to provide a robust Metro network across Mumbai. Metro lines 2A, 2B, 3, 4, 4A, 5, 6, 7, 7A, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 were planned of which Metro Line 3 is completely underground. The total length of the Metro network being executed, approved or planned in Mumbai is now an astounding 336.99 Km with more than 202 stations across 17 lines being built in the next 12 years. Compare this number with the 6 lines, 180 stations and 427.50 Km Mumbai Suburban Railway network which was built over 160 years. The Metro lines, both Underground and Elevated, are air-conditioned, have a better frequency, are less prone to stoppage due to bad weather. Safety is the biggest advantage that Metro offers to commuters.
The Mumbai Metro, once fully operational will provide Mumbaikars safety, dignity and comfort in their daily commute that is woefully lacking today.
It doesn’t need a Mumbaikar to tell you how jam-packed the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Airport is as Mumbai has been screaming for a second Airport to ease the congestion. The Fadnavis administration took matters into its hands as it sought to decongest the world’s busiest airport and awarded a tender for the Navi Mumbai Airport. The 7,200-acre Navi Mumbai International Airport will have 2 parallel operational runways for both Passenger and Cargo flights capable of handling 90 million passengers per annum, when complete. It will be connected by the proposed Metro Line 8 to the existing CSIA, by the 6 lanes “Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL)” to the island city & by road to various National Highways.
The Fadnavis administration’s handling of the parched Latur district won many hearts as trains containing potable water were sent to the district which also helped the BJP to breach the Congress’s fortress.
The BJP has won almost everything there is to win in Maharashtra throughout the tenure of Fadnavis right from Zilla Parishads to Municipal corporations, the party has increased its footmark in the state at a breakneck speed.
Perhaps, this has made the Sena insecure and prompted it to resort to desperate measures which will likely mean the end of the Shiv Sena as we know it. Shiv Sena can continue to flirt with the NCP and Congress with a single point agenda to make the incompetent Aaditya Thackeray the Chief Minister of Maharashtra. The dynast needs everything on a platter not realising that power and respect need to be earned through sustained hard work as done by Devendra Fadnavis.
