Pakistan provides China with a base right near the Gujarat Border

A grave security threat

Pakistan has realised that it cannot defeat India in a full-fledged war and continues to wage a proxy war against India through its carefully nurtured terrorists. Pakistan is heavily reliant on China and its not a question of ‘if’ but ‘when’ Pakistan is reduced to just another Chinese colony. Pakistan has over the years ceded geo-strategically important locations to China in a bid to counter India and help China’s plans to encircle India. As a result, a considerable part of Pakistan occupied Kashmir is administered by China, making the latter a stakeholder in Kashmir.

In an alarming development, Pakistan has given 55 Sq Km Land To Chinese firm Near Harami Nala Along Gujarat Border with the site of construction being just 10 km from the International maritime boundary. This has set off serious security concerns in New Delhi.

The 22 km stretch of Harami Nala is near the Sir Creek area, which is close to the International Border between India and Pakistan has seen the Chinese firm already starting construction. Harami Nala is a water channel in a marshy area along the international border which is accessible from the Pakistani side. The topography makes it difficult for security personnel to react swiftly to infiltration bids.

This move comes close to the heels of Pakistan’s decision to hand over the reins of the Gwadar port to China which was countered by India by developing the Chabahar port in Iran. However, Gwadar port is proving to be a loss-making one for China as it faces administrative hurdles thanks to Imran Khan’s inept government.

Pakistan has always been trying to infiltrate terrorists through this region albeit with little success as Indian intelligence agencies have received inputs that Pakistan-trained commandos were trying to enter India via Harami Nala from Gujarat. The Border Security Force has deployed teams of ‘Creek Crocodile Commandos’ along the 22km stretch of Harami Nala to counter any terrorist activity.

In August, the BSF found two single-engine fitted Pakistani fishing boats abandoned in the Harami Nala creek area along the Indo-Pak border near Kutch district of Gujarat. In May, the BSF had intercepted a Pakistani fishing boat in the area but the fishermen on board had managed to escape. Last December, BSF had found three abandoned Pakistani boats in the area.

There is no doubt that Pakistan is up to something nefarious as last week the BSF has seized five Pakistani fishing boats in the creek area in Gujarat’s Kutch. “A special operation has been launched in the area and the search is still underway. Till now, nothing suspicious has been recovered from the region,” the BSF said.

China’s attempts to debt-trap countries and in turn coerce them to give up geo-strategically important locations is well known as it attempts to encircle India and has previously attempted to do the same through the like of Sri Lanka and the Maldives as the countries were forced to give up strategically important ports.

In light of this development, India must be prepared for a two-front war as China is planning to use its soon to be colony, Pakistan, as a base to attack India.
