Ravish Kumar is on a red-hot streak when it comes to winning awards in recent months. Having already been awarded the Magsaysay Award, the “journalist of the common masses” which he proclaims himself to be received the first “Gauri Lankesh Memorial Award” in Bengaluru on Sunday. Interestingly, the jury was headed by Siddharth Vardarajan and Teesta Seetalvad, both staunch leftist in their political inclinations and a part of the infamous “award-wapsi” gang.
“After receiving prestigious Gauri Lankesh Award,Ravish Kumar should be looking forward to Rajdeep Sardesai,Sagarika Ghosh and Rana Ayub Awards for excellence in journalism”, tweeted a user, perfectly encapsulating the whole situation humorously in one go.

The mini-circle that such journalists have formed where there is an increasing trend of peddling propaganda against the Government no matter what the issue is, has come up with the gimmick award to stay relevant and cash-in on the death of Lankesh which they have been continuously doing for the past two years.
It does not make sense to even have an award in the name of Gauri Lankesh who was a propaganda journalist at best and more so to present it to a severely biased journalist like Ravish Kumar.
Yes, Gauri Lankesh did die a tragic death and it was something that should not have happened to anybody but when the news of her murder came out, most people did not know who Lankesh was. She was a hardcore leftist whose prime targets were the right-wing groups, the Hindu organizations and lastly, Hinduism itself.
In 2012, she participated in a protest event, which demanded a ban on Hindu organizations like RSS. In that protest, she stated that Hinduism was not a religion but a “system of hierarchy in society” in which “women are treated as second-class creatures”. Gauri Lankesh even advocated for a minority religion tag for the Lingayat community. In various accounts, she criticized Hinduism vehemently in a distasteful language. Her animosity towards the Hindu groups and organizations are evident from her social media posts like the one given below, where she used disrespectful and abusive language. Gauri Lankesh herself was a loud figure from the educated leftist camp who once shared a link that called PM Modi a gay groom. Due to her baseless allegations and false accusations, two BJP leaders filed defamation cases against her in which she was proven guilty and was sentenced for 6 years imprisonment.
She very conveniently defended herself by saying that her fake news against a BJP leader didn’t do much damage as he won the election. Due to these defamation cases, she claimed in an interview published in NewsLaundry that Modi-bhakts and Hindutva forces want her jailed. It is also said that she was about to unearth massive scams of the Congress in Karnataka involving the now-in-police custody DK Shivakumar.
Also, based on her writing, there have been accusations of her being sympathetic to the Naxal cause. Whether the reports have any weight or not, it is claimed that she had been in regular contact with the Naxals and was also trying to bring them to surrender. As a result, Naxals bore an irreconcilable grudge against her.
Ravish Kumar, who also comes across as a pompous self-praiser and the thing that he brings best on the table is the talent of spinning a non-news story to give it a political twist and it is something that he has perfected in.
A mere look at the comment section on his Facebook wall would be enough to gauge the kind of love and adulation, people have for Ravish Kumar. Journalists like Ravish Kumar time and again do not miss out on the slightest of opportunity to belittle the government and ridicule it without doing proper research on their parts and this is a travesty that Indian media and its pseudo-liberal journalists are going through right now.
However, the revolutionary brand of Ravish Kumar journalism that ran the agenda of anti-Modi during the Lok Sabha elections has been whole-heartedly rejected by the public. The small gang of left-liberals journalists can only manufacture such awards out of thin air and give it to their own cult members, which no matter how hard you try evokes a laugh or two out of you. Nevertheless, congratulations to Ravish Kumar on winning another award and having another feather in your cap.
