Saaho Movie Review: This horrible movie will make You cry BLOOD

Rating: ★★

Saaho Review

The Much awaited Saaho starring Prabhas in the lead role hit the cinema halls today.  Directed by Sujeeth Reddy, Saaho also stars Shraddha Kapoor, who plays Prabhas’ love interest. They’re supported by actors like Jackie Shroff, Arun Vijay, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Prakash Belawadi, Mandira Bedi, Chunky Pandey and Tinnu Anand etc. So without further ado, here’s my review of “Saaho”.

Saaho Review: The Plot –

The movie is about a ruthless businessman Roy, who is murdered soon after he arrives in Mumbai. Months later, an important consignment containing a huge chunk of Roy’s assets are robbed, which is sought by both Roy’s son Vishwank and his rival Devraj, who is actually a gangster by profession. Simultaneously, the Mumbai Police deputes Crime Branch officer Amritha Nair [Shraddha Kapoor] and an undercover officer, Ashok Chakravarthy [Prabhas]. How do the two reach the real thief, and whether Ashok is actually the one who he claims to be forms the crux of the story.

Saaho Review: The Bad –

The talented Prabhas invested two years in this project but it turned out to be a massive dudSaaho disappoints us in every way possible. Being a big budget movie, this movie has impressive action sequences, outstanding visual effects, apart from some brilliant cinematography and background score, but when it comes to the story – it’s an incoherent mess. The plot of this movie is not only half baked but absolutely underwhelming. The 350 Crores investment in this unthrilling thriller could very well be dubbed as a cinematic Non-Performing asset!

Saaho Review: The Ugly –

Like a mismanaged big fat Delhi wedding, Saaho is a garish display of wealth, there is literally everything in the movie but no story. The screenplay is poor, songs are stuffed here and there, N Night Shymalanish plot twists will make you cry blood, and the absurd climax has the potential to age you prematurely.

Saaho Review: Is there anything good? –

The only saving grace of this movie is the acting of Prabhas. For a man, who mesmerized the entire nation with his charm in the Brilliant ‘Bahubali’ movies. Prabhas trying to save a failing project was painful to watch for a Prabhas like me. Chunky Pandey does justice to his role of Gangster Devraj. Chunky has been an underrated star who was swallowed by bigger stars in his prime. He was brilliant in both Aankhein and Tezaab but Govinda and Anil Kapoor managed to hog all the limelight. However, he is wasted in this movie due to the tacky plot and the caricaturish acting of his co-actors in the film. Shraddha Kapoor tries her best, but her limitation as an actor is very visible in the movie.

Overall, Saaho is an opportunity wasted royally. Given the brilliant star cast and visual effects, the movie could have given Hollywood flicks a run for their money but alas, the absence of a story killed the film’s chances. The film may still be a commercial success but it is going to be a critical failure. I’m compelled to give Saaho just ★★ out of ★★★★★.
