Manohar Lal Khattar, the no-nonsense chief minister of Haryana has given the state five years of corruption free BJP government. Historically, the politics of the state has been known to be ‘dynastic’ and corrupt. The five years of Om Prakash Chautala and ten years of Bhupinder Singh Hooda witnessed unregulated land deals, extortion, land grabbing, corruption in government jobs, increase in bribery activities so on and so forth.
Earlier, the people of Haryana had no options except INLD and Congress as BJP does not have even organizational base in the state. But the popularity of PM Modi and organizational skills of Amit Shah brought BJP government in Haryana for the first time along with many states like Jharkhand, Jammu & Kashmir and many other states.
The BJP high command chose Manohar Lal Khattar, a rather unknown face in the politics and a Punjabi Khatri in a Jat dominated state. Khattar has several advantages – he is clean face in the corruption ridden Haryana politics, he is full time member Pracharak of RSS, his family has no political background unlike other prominent political faces in the state. In short, Khattar offered everything that the state was looking for and therefore he was chosen as CM of the state.
In last five years, Haryana government has not faced a single case of graft. There is transparency in appointment in government jobs, rule of law has prevailed, many gangsters have been hunted down, infrastructure has improved and efficiency in delivery of public services is at an all-time high.
The number of government jobs has grown exponentially under the leadership of Manohar Lal Khattar in Haryana. The number of government vacancies opened by the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) between its tenure 1999 to 2005 was 5591. The job opening under the Congress regime from 2005 to 2009 was 18,020. The government led by Bhupinder Singh Hooda came to power again and the number of government vacancies grew to 44,302. The Khattar government broke all the records and the number of government vacancies in the last four and a half years was 54,197.

The per capita income of the state grew at a pace of double digits under the Khattar government. The GSDP per capita of Haryana was 1,99,612 rupees for FY 17 which is 11 percent higher than that of FY 16 when the GSDP per capita was 1, 79,432 rupees.
Haryana’s journey from being a state with a skewed sex ratio to being on a firm path towards promoting health and well-being of the girl child has surely been a long and victorious one. The north-western state has come a long way ahead, in the 2011 Census, Haryana’s child sex ratio was a shameful 1000:834 and the figure was even worse in the 2001 Census where the child sex ratio was 1000:819.
Haryana, due to these skewed realities has often been branded as being oppressive towards females, offering them little opportunities in education and employment; however, the steps taken by the central, state government combined with the efforts of the society have surely worked towards changing that perception about Haryana. The sex ratio of the state stands at 933 females per 1000 males in the ongoing year.

“When we started with the ‘beti bachao, beti padhao’ mission, sex ratio in the state was 871 females per 1000 males, however after efforts of the society, institutions and government officials, today the sex ratio has improved to 933 females per 1000 males. This is a matter of pride for the state,” tweeted Khattar.
The five years of corruption free government, good governance, record growth in per capita income, improvement in socio economic indicators will help the Khattar government to get another term in upcoming assembly election which is to be held in few months. In last assembly election BJP won 47 seats out of 90 compared to 4 seats in previous election. Home minister Amit Shah has asked the people of Haryana to vote for BJP in a rally in Jind and set a target of 75 seats for upcoming assembly election. If the Khattar government does not make any major blunder in next few days, a victory with as many as 75 seats is very much achievable given the fact the BJP won all 10 Lok Sabha seats in the 2019 general election.
