In what comes as a heart wrenching incident, it has been reported that the blind father of a Dalit youth who was lynched to death by a mob in Rajasthan’s Alwar city, has committed suicide. As per reports, he committed suicide because of not being able to get justice for his son. Rattiram Jatav’s relatives say that he committed suicide by consuming poison because he was upset with the police for “trying to suppress the investigation” into his son, Harish Jatav’s death by mob lynching. As per the relatives, even in his final moments, Rattiram accused the police of shielding the accused. As per Alwar Police, Rattiram Jatav was brought dead to the hospital and investigation into his suicide is underway.

Harish Jatav had died last month after he was lynched by members of the Muslim community. His motorcycle had accidentally hit a woman on July 16. After this, an angry mob lynched him to death. He had been admitted to a hospital but Harish Jatav succumbed to his injuries in a couple of days. According to the police, the accident took place on the Bhiwandi-Chopkani road. He is believed to have been beaten up by a mob afterwards which resulted in his death. However, the police has reportedly denied that it was a case of mob lynching. Superintendent of Police (SP) Alwar said that there was no evidence to suggest that Hairsh was lynched. He said, “We cannot call it a case of mob lynching until a detailed postmortem report is prepared by the doctors.” Owing to this Harish Jatav’s blind father, having been denied justice, committed suicide. Now, the members of the family of Harish Jatav warn that they will self-immolate.

It must be noted that Harish Jatav’s family had also lodged an FIR with a police station in which it alleged one Umar Sher and others lynching Harish Jatav to death. The husband of the accident victim had also filed a counter FIR against the deceased alleging that he was drunk driving.

This incident brings two things in focus: firstly, it has to be the incompetence of the Ashok Gehlot Congress government in Rajasthan. The state administration not only failed in ensuring proper law and order in order to avoid such incidents of mob lynching but also failed to ensure that justice is secured for such victims. Secondly, it is the deafening silence of the so called intellectuals and left-liberals that lays bare their sheer hypocrisy and selective outrage . Mob lynchings is an issue for the left liberal cabal only if the outrage can be directed at a BJP government or against Hindus. If none of these options are available, the liberal brigade conveniently ignores such heart wrenching incidents of mob lynching. The mob lynching of Harish Jatav, a Dalit man, by a Muslim mob has warranted no outrage, and no debates on intolerance and fascism have taken place, once again exposing the true intentions of the left-liberal cabal, which is the political goal to project Hindus as the sole perpetrators of violence and minorities as victims.
