The Registrar General of the Allahabad High Court has reportedly transferred an Agra judge after the latter allegedly ordered a police constable to take off his uniform in the court room as the police constable had failed to give pass to his car while he was on the way to the court. The 58-year constable has reportedly served in the UP Police for 38 years. Ghure Lal, the police constable who was allegedly asked to disrobe and stand in the Courtroom for over half an hour, met Senior Superintendent of Police and gave his resignation letter for voluntary retirement, citing the humiliation that he had to face on account of the abovestated incident.
However, later on, the UP Police tweeted, “We have taken the issue of ordering a constable in uniform to disrobe in a court very seriously & taken it up at t appropriate level. We stand by t dignity of each & every Police Personnel & appeal to all t sections of society to respect the honour of uniformed forces (sic).”

SSP Agra, Babloo Kumar spoke to NDTV and said, “Constable driver Ghure Lal had alleged, that he was humiliated in Court by a sitting judge who forced him to take off the uniform including beret, belt and khaki shirt, as punishment for not giving pass to judge’s car. He was made to stand for half an hour in the court.” A police officer said, “Just 100 meter before the court, a car with sitting judge blew horn and siren to police van driven by Chute Lal to give pass. Since the road towards court is of single lane, Ghure Lal failed to provide pass. After reaching court, the enraged judge asked Ghure Lal to appear in his courtroom where he was reprimanded and ordered to take off his uniform.”
SSP Babloo Kumar said, “I’m sending a complaint letter against the sitting judge to district judge of Agra Ajay Kumar Srivastava, Registrar General of Allahabad High Court Mayank Kumar Jain and honourable HC judge who holds administrative judge chairship Munishwar Nath Bhandari to intimate them about the incident and take appropriate action after a probe.”
TOI claimed that it attempted to contact the judge, but he was not available to speak. A woman relative who picked up the phone said that “judge is not well and having chest pain. He is being taken to hospital and is not in a condition to speak.” The woman did not identify herself nor did she give the name of the hospital where the judge was being taken.

As per an NDTV report, the transfer orders were issued by the Allahabad High Court shortly after the UP Police took up this matter and tweeted about it. After the transfer orders were issued, UP Police tweeted, “We thank our DGP OP Singh for standing by the honour of the lowest rung of the police force & for keeping the morale of force intact.”
