Hauz Qazi Temple desecration and left liberals’ shameless attempts at whitewashing the crime

Temple, desecration

Communal tensions flared up in Delhi’s Hauz Qazi area in Chandni Chowk after a scuffle over parking space took an ugly turn and a temple was desecrated by a mob of more than 350 Muslim men. According to Delhi police, at around 10:55 PM Sunday, a man identified as Aas Mohammed was parking his two-wheeler outside one Sanjeev Gupta’s home after which an argument over the parking spot turned physical when a group of men from one side bashed up the other. The two were held and brought to Hauz Quazi police station for further investigation.

While Mohammad and Gupta were held in the police station, a false rumor spread that a man had been beaten to death. “Around 350 people gathered outside the police station and some went outside Gupta’s home, where a temple is situated. It is alleged that some unidentified men vandalized the temple,” an officer said. The 100-year old Hindu temple was ravaged and desecrated by the large mob of hundreds of men that night, videos of which went viral on social media and after long hours of silence, the left-liberal cabal turned up with dishonest attempts at whitewashing the heinous crime.

Not surprisingly the mainstream media, sticking to its stance, has decided to conveniently underplay this heinous crime of temple desecration as the identity of the accused does not fit well with their political agenda. Mainstream media has been called out time and time again for blatantly whitewashing or totally eliminating the reportage of crimes committed by certain sections in India. However, after continuous backlash from online community, members of the left-liberal gang have given in and are coming out with their version of concerns, however their hollow concerns have been out rightly rejected on many forums.

While the law takes its course, these left-liberal journalists have been trying hard to divert the public opinion away for the alarming nature of the incident by painting it as just a ‘parking dispute’ while underplaying the larger concern that a Muslim mob decided to attack a temple of Hindus exposing the state of communal harmony in the capital. Joining in the trend is senior journalist Sagarika Ghose, who tweeed: “A parking dispute between two drunks which escalated into communal tension in #ChandniChowk has been defused, with a havan at the temple in the area and a meeting between two communities. Lets understand that without social harmony there can be no trade, business or eco growth”

Congress party member Yasmin Kidwai also pitched in to comment on the heinous crime. She tweeted “From news coming in -attack was not on temple -it was between two sets of people -should not be communalized but definitely condemned and all should help repair the temple #delhi”, a blatant attempt at pretending that the temple was not desecrated.

Another journalist, Rajdeep Sardesai called the assault by a mob on an individual and desecration of a 100 year old temple while religious slogans being raised as a ‘minor communal flare up’. He tweeted: “Minor communal ‘flare up’ in Chandni Chowk over a parking brawl amongst a group of drunken youth. today, there was a peace march in the area. Most news channels have ignored the efforts of community leaders on both sides to ensure peace prevails. ‘Nafrat’ sells, ‘pyaar’ doesn’t.”

Huffpost India also came up with an appalling piece belittling people’s outrage on social media over the the attack on the temple and its desecration. Insinuating that it was some sort of sponsored and coordinated viral activity by supporters of the BJP and had nothing to do with the horrendous crime, the article on Huffpost titled, ” How BJP Supporters Turned A Fight Over Parking Into A ‘Terror Attack’”, exposed the acute levels of dishonesty infesting the left-liberal establishment and laid bare the depths to which the cabal can dive to make pathetic attempts at whitewashing such crimes.

Many users also highlighted this hypocrisy of the left liberal media by putting out an example of differences in reporting of incidents where different communities were involved.

While the nation was concerned about the safety of individuals in the mob affected area after the temple desecration, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was nowhere to be seen. Even more than after 48 hours of the incident Arvind Kejriwal is yet to come out and address the people living in Chandni Chowk and give them assurance of their safety. While the pseudo-liberal gang tries to weed out a certain aspects of the crime and calls it a ‘parking dispute’, the nation has been calling for strict action on the perpetrators. Nonetheless, India does not need the hypocrisy of left-liberals to fight against ghastly crimes irrespective of the identity of the perpetrators and this horrific act surely calls for the harshest of punishments by law.
