“We are for the 130 crore people of the country, we cannot differentiate between anyone. We cannot differentiate on the basis caste and religion or region. We have shown how to achieve Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas (development for all) and now we have to win Sabka Vishwas (trust of everyone). We are for the people who trusted us and those whose trust we need to win. Nobody should be ‘other’ for us. It takes a lot of strength to try and win the hearts of people,” PM Modi kick-started his second term as he pitched out these ideas in BJP’s parliamentary meeting after he won a landslide majority in the Lok Sabha polls.
The 2019 general elections saw the opposition camp being pushed into uncomfortable twists and turns in face of another pro-Modi wave which brought the NDA to a stellar total of 353 members in the Lok Sabha. While BJP ramped up its tally, parties of the opposition camp kept on the ‘anti-minority’ rhetoric against the government. However like the previous term and now energized with the new motto of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas” PM Modi with his work has put the record straight and reiterated his commitment for upliftment and development of all communities and groups irrespective on any factor.
The recent scheme by the central government to provide skill development training, under which 3.25 lacs youth from the minority community were trained in different fields and prepare them from taking benefit of employment opportunities emerging these fields. Under the recently introduced ‘padho aur badho’ (read and grow),” the government will be making efforts towards encouraging girls’ education among the minorities. PM Modi under this scheme targets to bring the drop out among girls of the minorities from current levels of around 40% to 0% in the next five years.
Various scholarships for minorities were also introduced which aimed at encouraging meritorious students of economically weaker sections of the minority community to pursue higher education and enhance their employability by providing financial assistance. The government has also indicated that in the next 5 years the government will be providing scholarships to around 5 crore students from the minority communities, including 50% girls, in the next 5 years. The government had earlier also introduced the USTAAD scheme, which will be a push in the direction to build the capacity of poor traditional artisan craftsmen and to train minority youth in traditional arts.
Complementing Narendra Modi’s approach for the upliftment of all the communities, Amit Shah has tasked himself to make India a safer place for all communities. Continuing with his proactive working style, Ministry of Home Affairs under the leadership of Amit Shah is already seeing accelerated efforts towards building on a robust national security profile. In the current session of parliament, Amit Shah along with his deputies G Kishan Reddy and Nityanand Rai has been successful in getting important and critical legislation cleared with virtually little or no opposition at all. The most recent of example of which is the much critical National Investigation Agency (Amendment) Bill which was passed by the house on Monday with 278 votes in favor compared to just six against. Earlier Amit Shah had also bulldozed his way through the parliament into passing two important legislation one calling for extension of President’s rule in Jammu and Kashmir for six months and another important Jammu and Kashmir Reservation (Amendment) Bill, 2019.
On Thursday Union Home Minister Amit Shah also made it very clear that the government will not soften its stance on illegal immigrants in India. He said that National Register of Citizens (NRC) as the one in progress in Assam, will be brought in other states and the infiltrators will be identified and deported from every inch of the country.
“Currently, the NRC is a part of Assam Accord. The Centre – as per its election manifesto – is dedicated to weaning out illegal immigrants from every inch of this country. We will make sure that all such immigrants are deported as per international law,” Union Home Minister Amit Shah had said in RS.
While PM Modi works towards creating a safe and tolerate environment in India, Amit Shah has been diligently focusing on streamlining the security issues in India. The synergy between the efforts in both the directions is sure to give out many-fold returns as nation progress towards its goal of making India a $5 trillion economy and transform from a regional power to a global contributor.
