The Indian Railways have clarified that the NDTV story which claimed that two Garib Rath Express — Kathgodam-Jammu Tawi and Kanpur-Kathgodam will be discontinued and operated as Express trains is fake news. “Services of Train no. 12207/08 Garibrath Express between Kathgodam and Jammu Tawi and Train no. 12209/10 Garibrath Express between Kanpur and Kathgodam restored with effect from August 4, 2019,” tweeted the Rail Ministry.

There are 26 Garib Rath Express trains in operation. These trains were started in 2005 to provide air-conditioned travel to lower-middle-class people at a subsidied price. The fare of these trains is lower than third class AC fair of normal trains.
Twitterati slammed NDTV for carrying the fake story of the closing of Garib Rath Express trains. “lol @ndtv ? RIP Journalism,” tweeted a user with screenshots of NDTV story and the reply of railways.

“It is clarified that there is no proposal to discontinue Garib Rath services on Indian Railways,” said the Indian Railways. “These are very popular services as they facilitate air-conditioned travel at fares which are lower than the normal AC-3 tier fares,” read the press release by the railways.
NDTV has a history of spinning the news and spreading fake news. When it comes to spinning simple, innocuous stories into sensationalist, click-bait headlines, NDTV is in a league of its own. The audacity, with which NDTV lies through its teeth, is unmatchable and it has done it again. Reporting a statement of UP Minister, the leftist propaganda wunderkind, NDTV, picked up simple news, spun it, and claimed that the Minister had said that mosquitoes bite them in Dalit homes.

Uttar Pradesh Minister (MoS, independent charge), Anupama Jaiswal had actually said: “ministers go to several places to see if schemes are being implemented properly, even if they get bitten by mosquitos at night.”

NDTV’s remarkable talent of spinning has surpassed every benchmark there is. This is a pattern, implemented towards furthering an agenda against the incumbent government. Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely. Media, the fourth pillar of democracy, which enjoyed patronage under the 60 years rule of Congress rule, is now absolutely corrupted. And it is desperate to bring Congress back to power. Media is not reporting reality; they are filtering and shaping it according to their agenda.
NDTV is well known for its agenda-driven journalism, prioritizing agenda over truth and vicious hatred for one particular party. Because of all these biases, its viewership has drastically decreased but still, they didn’t learn their lesson and carried own with their anti-India and anti-Hindu propaganda. The alienation of viewers is clearly visible in their TRP ratings where it is on the last spot. If NDTV does not get its house in order, financially as well as qualitatively, the end might not be very far.
