India is all set to break its own record as far as the tallest statue in the world goes. After Gujarat government constructed the Statue of Unity, standing tall at 182 meters; the UP government has decided to build Bhagwan Ram’s statue in Ayodhya, the birthplace of Bhagwan Ram. The statue is going to be the tallest in the world, with a height of 251 meters.
According to UP CM Yogi Adityanath, the construction work on the statue will start soon. This was decided at a meeting held in Lucknow late on Monday. Bhagwan Ram’s statue would be installed on the 100 hectares of land near River Sarayu in Ayodhya. He also added, “There should be arrangements for basic tourist facilities along with the digital museum, interpretation center, library, parking, food plaza, landscaping based on the theme of Lord Shri Ram.”
ANI reported that the Uttar Pradesh government will sign an MOU with the Gujarat government for technical assistance and guidance, while a separate unit of “Rajkiya Nirman Nigam” will be set up for the purpose of installation of the statue.
A trust led by the CM Yogi will oversee the plan in the holy town. The Chief Minister has specified that a separate unit of the State Manufacturing Corporation would be set up for the project, structure, bidding operation and construction work. Moreover, the UP government also plans to enlist the help of IIT Kanpur and Nagpur-based NEERI (National Environmental Engineering Research Institute) to carry out the site survey, environmental assessment, and feasibility study.
A few months ago, Yogi Adityanath had unveiled a 7-foot wooden statue of Bhagawan Ram in Ayodhya. The statue, influenced by Karnataka’s sculpture art, has been installed at the Ayodhya research institute.
At 251 meters, the statue is going to surpass even the Shivaji statue, which is currently being constructed off the coast of Mumbai in the Arabian Sea. Once completed, the Shivaji statue is going to be of a height of 212 meters.
Once constructed, the Ram statue and the Shivaji statue, along with the Statue of Unity will dominate the list of the World’s tallest statues. The next in line, China’s Spring Temple Buddha stands at 128 meters. The Statue of Unity, constructed with a sum of Rs 3,000 crore, is double in height when compared to the famous landmark, Statue of Liberty.
Ever since the Statue of Unity on the banks of Narmada was inaugurated, an approximate 30,000 visitors visit the statue daily. The statue in Ayodhya will similarly contribute to tourism development in the town. It will be a glorious sight to behold and will serve as a major tourist place for the Indians and even people all over the world.
