PM Modi in Rajya Sabha yesterday condemned the lynching incident in Jharkhand. However condemn-worthy as it may, the incident has also ignited several extreme reactions with people blaming the entire state and religion, which is highly unjustified and uncalled for. PM Modi sought to set this record straight and in the Rajya Sabha, he said that people should not insult the entire state of Jharkhand because of this incident.
PM Modi stated, “The lynching in Jharkhand has pained me. It has saddened others too. But, some here in the Rajya Sabha are calling Jharkhand a hub of lynching. Is this fair? Why are they insulting a whole state. None of us have the right to insult the state of Jharkhand”

PM Modi’s condemnation of the incident was divided into two parts, and both of these are equally important. After condemning the incident, PM Modi adds, “But, some here in the Rajya Sabha are calling Jharkhand a hub of lynching. Is this fair? Why are they insulting a whole state. None of us have the right to insult the state of Jharkhand.”
The part after ‘but’ is significant as it denotes a shift of stance in PM Modi’s condemnation of such events.
The Jharkhand case has been again taken up by the media and is being used to portray the state and Hinduism in a degrading manner. The left liberals have demonstrated their inability to differentiate between a person committing a criminal act, from an entire sect of religion. Due to this, they have come out cursing the entire religion. The twitter hashtag, “SayNoToJaiShriRam” has been trending since yesterday. The fact that the man lynched, was an alleged bike thief was conveniently ignored by the media and the entire focus was on the chant “Jai Shri Ram”, that the perpetrators made him say. This has been a classic case of a few misfits using religious slogans for their personal gains, for lack of mental capacity otherwise. However, the “intellectuals” in our country, which are usually too keen to not let the criminal acts of a particular religion, define the entire community, failed to observe those principles this time around. Hinduism was blatantly being targeted by the liberals, who were not only preaching people to shun the god Ram but was also maligning his name.
However, it’s not the first time that the deed of a few criminals is being portrayed as the collective guilt of Hindus as a whole, by the left-liberal cabal. This had happened during the Kathua case too. The brutal abduction, murder, and rape of a young girl, was a horrific crime; the perpetrators of which deserved the maximum punishment permissible under law. However, the left-liberals had chosen to politicize the situation and started viewing it on religious lines. Rather than viewing the criminals as individuals who are an abomination to nature, their religious identities were taken into account and the entire religion was condemned. A vicious hate-campaign was launched by the liberal brigade against Hinduism.
That time, PM Modi hadn’t mentioned this hypocrisy of the left liberals and had focused instead, on condemning the incident and making sure that justice was served to the victim. Probably dismissing the left liberal’s reactions unworthy of his time, PM Modi had chosen to concentrate on the pressing matters. However, ignoring the vilification of Hindus by the liberals has encouraged them to adopt it as a pattern. For the cow vigilantism incidents, PM Modi had strongly condemned the crime by stating that non-violence “is our way of living and killing human beings in the name of gau bhakti (reverence for cows) is unacceptable.” That time as well, PM Modi hadn’t spoken about the rampant cow smuggling going on, and which, in many cases, have prompted acts of violence. Cow smugglers have been involved in criminal conducts many times. A majority of Hindus had even taken offense at PM Modi’s statement as they believed that the Prime Minister should have condemned the act of cow smuggling too, which had been completely overlooked due to the hue and cry of the liberals.
This time around, PM Modi has decided to address the complete matter. While condemning the incident of lynching, PM Modi has also warned the agenda peddlers that a single incident cannot form the basis of maligning a state, a community or even a religion, as it is happening now. While the need of the hour is to condemn the lynching and ensure the perpetrators are punished, the liberals need to understand that others cannot be blamed for one group’s activities. Such statements are unfair to the people of Jharkhand and those practicing Hinduism, who will be glad to see that the Prime Minister is acknowledging their woes.
The addendum to the condemnation has essentially signified a more assertive Modi 2.0. The Prime Minister has realised the evils of this penchant of the left-liberals to condemn the entire community for the acts of 1 odd person and has signaled a shift in his stance vis-à-vis the politically charged incidents which are manipulated by the left-liberals to guilt trip and malign Hinduism. PM Modi will not be beholden to misplaced political correctness anymore and will call a spade a spade, the ‘BUT’ in PM Modi’s condemnation has surely sent that very message.
