Recently a video of a hawker selling toys in a train coupled with witty political commentary went viral. In this video, a hawker by the name Avdhesh Dubey is seen imitating and mimicking several politicians while trying to sell toys on a train. However soon after reports of the hawker getting arrested had emerged, several media houses had reported that the hawker in question was arrested on grounds of mocking the politicians ‘including Prime Minister Narendra Modi’. The Quint which has been called out a number of times for spreading fake and misleading news also joined in the trend and wrote an article titled, “Hawker Arrested After Imitating Politicians Wants to Do Stand-up” on similar lines, indicating that the hawker had been arrested after he imitated politicians.
However, like most of the times, mainstream media has again failed to report objective facts. The media in their report failed to mention that Avdhesh Dubey, the hawker in question was arrested for being a repeat offender for illegal hawking in trains and not because he was mocking certain politicians.
Avadhesh Dubey was among 9 others who were detained on similar charges, he and others were produced before the magistrate on 31st of May. Avdhesh Dubey had later confessed before the Magistrate for the 12th time that he has been indulging in illegal hawking for long. His repeated offenses are likely to be the reason behind his increased quantum of punishment.
The left-liberal gang was also not far off to make most out of this misleading news, Akash Banerjee had tweeted, “A terror accused can go to Parliament, but #AvadheshDubey a witty toy seller & Modi supporter – trying to make an honest living – is detained by RPF, then sent to jail for 10 days cuz he did not have ‘permit’ Don’t question the next time why Indians fear becoming entrepreneurs”

Akash Banerjee linking this corrective measure as an attack on entrepreneurship only shows to the lengths of left-liberal agenda driven discourse. A stray incident of violation of rules on the railway is being portrayed as an attack on entrepreneurs.
Avdhesh Dubey, the hawker in question is likely to get bail on Monday; RPF officials in Surat maintained as they reiterated that this was a routine arrest and had nothing to do with the alleged mocking. The fact that he was one among the many against whom the corrective action took place also nullifies the allegations of Avadhesh Dubey being singled out.
