Republic TV’s special investigation team exposed the Congress Government, which is ruling the state of Madhya Pradesh. Congress formed governments in three states of the country – Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh. The party used a masterstroke, in the form of promises of loan waivers to farmers, to win these elections. The promise of waiving loans up to 2 lakhs helped the Congress to garner votes of the farmers in all the three states. The Congress president Rahul Gandhi, during 2018 assembly elections, had claimed that within 10 days, the promises will be fulfilled without any delay.
148 days have passed and farmers in Madhya Pradesh are still waiting for the loans to be waived off. The policy, which is supposed to be facilitated through nationalised banks, hasn’t seen the dawn of the day since it was announced by Congress as one of its agendas during Assembly election campaign. The promise is far from being kept. Republic TV took the initiative to expose the Congress leaders and their fake promises to gain votes.
In a sting operation by Republic TV, Congress MLAs were taken on camera while the reporters asked them important questions regarding the particular scheme. In the first sting, Congress MLA Shashank Bhargav from Vidisha, MP revealed that farmers had come up to him asking about the waiver scheme. In an unacceptable explanation, he compared the waiver scheme with birth of a child. He said that even birth of a child takes nine months, how could the farmer expect the scheme to come so early. Does this signify that Congress leaders make fake and unrealistic promises, only to fool the voters for their votes?
A single proof wasn’t enough to prove Congress’ fraudulent promises which were clearly an election gimmick. Republic TV interviewed another MLA Govardhan Dangl, who clearly indicated that funds for the scheme will be diverted from other development projects. The Madhya Pradesh government is thus halting development to fulfil its unrealistic promises.
The MLA later introduced the team to Ramchandra Dangl, a former Zilla Panchayat head, who received a loan waiver. The amount of loan waived off for the former Panchayat head was something that couldn’t be digested. The total amount that can be waived off has a limit of Rs 2 lakhs set by the ruling party in Madhya Pradesh. The figure that was declared by Ramchandra Dangl was Rs 10 lakhs. Hence, It is clear that the Congress Party is favouring rich farmers and political figures by waving off illegal amounts of loans, while the poor and hardworking farmers are suffering under its regime.
Did the Grand Old Party pitch in the same game even in their much boasted NYAY scheme? Some farmers still wait for the loan waivers, and an MLA is pinning the blame on nationalised banks rather than answering the questions of the people that are to be served through the scheme.
The story doesn’t end here, after the Republic TV interviewed Congress MLA Bapu Singh Tanwar from Rajgadh, it was evident that Congress has put no fiscal prudence in mind while announcing the farmer wavier loan scheme. The MLA had absolutely no clue about where the funds for the scheme will be accrued from.
Sting interviews with these MLAs of the Congress Party revealed that MP government is soon to levy heavy amount of tax on the working middle class. It has already hurt the sentiments of the farmers by fanning their hopes through impractical promises to collect votes during elections. Now, the tyrant MP government is ready to give tough times to the working middle class. Important points surfaced in the sting operation. Congress is clearly heading towards a bigger scam strategy in MP; the Kamal Nath government is not trustworthy. Other two states of Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan have a similar story to narrate. Congress, which claims to be a pro-poor and pro-farmer party, is ruthlessly playing its dirty election game with the hard working farmers.
