The results of the Lok Sabha elections have been declared and with that, the NDA alliance is back into power with a thumping majority of 352 seats. Demolishing every allegation against them, the alliance under the leadership of PM Modi has once again resumed power, and to an extent, has given a further boost to the fight against dynasty politics by removing most of the dynast politicians from power.

However, in this victory, there have been many opposition stalwarts who have been defeated quite unexpectedly in this mammoth victory of NDA. Be it Mallikarjun Kharge, or Digvijay Singh, or even ex PM HD Devegowda, the current Lok Sabha is now virtually bereft of any opposition. However, the one upset that has shocked one and all is the way Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia was defeated squarely in his traditional bastion of Guna in Madhya Pradesh.

Ever since he took oath as the MP of Guna, in the wake of his father’s mysterious death in MP in 2002, Jyotiraditya Scindia had maintained an iron grip over the Guna constituency. Even in the Modi wave that had almost swept the entire nation in 2014, Jyotiraditya Scindia had managed to save his Guna constituency. However, this time around, Jyotiraditya Scindia hasn’t only been defeated, but has also been routed by a significant margin of over 1.25 lakh votes. Interestingly, the man who has orchestrated this shocking upset is none other than a former ardent follower of Scindia and once his parliamentary representative, Dr. Krishna Pal Singh Yadav, who is now a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Hailing from the Ashok Nagar district and an Ayurvedic doctor by profession, Dr. Krishnapal Singh Yadav’s family had very close connections with the Scindia clan. His own father was considered extremely close to Jyotiraditya’s father and Congress MP, Madhavrao Scindia. This is why Krishnapal had a good rapport with the Scindia clan. Not only was KP Yadav an ardent follower of Jyotiraditya Scindia, he was also ready to do anything for him.

However, time played a cruel joke on Dr. KP Yadav. In February 2018, when Dr. Krishnapal requested Jyotiraditya Scindia to let him contest the Mungaoli assembly seat for the upcoming by polls, he was flatly refused.

This was where Dr. Krishnapal preferred self-respect over loyalty. Much like Himanta Biswa Sarma knocked out Congress from Assam when he was insulted by Rahul Gandhi unnecessarily, the rude behavior of his idol compelled Dr. KP Yadav to work towards removing Jyotiraditya Scindia from his age-old bastion of Guna.

Soon enough Dr. Krishnapal joined BJP and contested the MP elections in late 2018. However, he lost to the Congress candidate by a mere total of 2000 votes. Despite the setback, neither did Dr. KP Yadav give up, nor did BJP give up on him, and soon enough, they put him up directly against Jyotiraditya Scindia in the Lok Sabha polls of 2019.

The journey to the Parliament, however, was far from easy. Like Gautam Gambhir in East Delhi and Sadhvi Pragya Thakur in Bhopal, Dr. KP Yadav had to face massive heckling from the supporters of his principal opponent. Even Priyadarshini Raje Scindia, wife of Jyotiraditya, mocked him by saying ‘People who once took selfies with Jyotiraditya are now contesting against him from the BJP.’

However, fate once again took an interesting turn. Dr. Krishnapal Singh Yadav’s struggles were acknowledged by the masses and he was elected with a thumping majority, breaking the stronghold of Scindia clan on this seat after decades. Dr. Krishna Pal Yadav’s struggles and his triumph will continue to inspire many in the fight to uproot the scourge of dynasty politics from India.
