Congress party won the 2018 assembly polls in the states of Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh. Congress had promised farm loan waiver of up to 2 lakhs, which helped the party to win the elections. Congress president Rahul Gandhi, during 2018 assembly elections, had claimed that within 10 days, the promises would be fulfilled without any delay.
Following the win, Rahul Gandhi had claimed that the farm loans were waived off within two days, however, this could not be further from the truth as people of Madhya Pradesh are still waiting for the promises to be fulfilled. While addressing the media on Tuesday, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, Kamal Nath has finally conceded that waiving off loans of farmers within 10 days is not possible. In the press conference, Kamal Nath has made multiple admissions that the Madhya Pradesh government has not yet waived off the loans of all the farmers despite being in power for over 140 days, even as his party chief Rahul Gandhi continues to use the promise’s fulfillment as a major poll plank in the ongoing 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
It's done!
Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh have waived farm loans.
We asked for 10 days.
We did it in 2.
— Rahul Gandhi (@RahulGandhi) December 19, 2018
Kamal Nath said, “After taking oath on December 17, I had gone to the Mantralaya and gave the instructions to clear the debt of the farmers. Shivraj Singh ji first said that Rahul Gandhi gave a speech that the debt will be cleared in 10 days. I am shocked that how can the man who was the Chief Minister for so many years say that in 10 days the debt will be cleared. Rahul ji must have said that in 10 days the debt will be clear, but not in 10 days, I gave the instruction within 2 hours. I took the decision in 2 hours. Nobody has a magic wand, this is natural.”

Admitting to the fact that it takes time to implement big schemes with huge fund requirements, Kamal Nath has proved that promises made by his party are false and also an election gimmick. It shows that Congress president Rahul Gandhi was blatantly lying about the waived off loans. It also indicates that Kamal Nath has finally accepted that Rahul Gandhi had lied to the farmers of the state.
Previously in a sting operation by the Republic TV, the MLAs of Congress party revealed that there was no fund available to proceed with the farm loan waiver scheme. The sting operation also exposed Congress on its false promises made to the people of Madhya Pradesh. Farmers have committed suicide because they couldn’t qualify for the farm loan waiver scheme. The scheme is nothing but a cruel joke with the people of Madhya Pradesh. Rahul Gandhi has been lying to the people of the nation. The Congress party has constantly exploited the hopes and vulnerability of citizens to garner votes for the party. With Kamal Nath accepting that the “10 days propaganda” failed, Congress will have to face the wrath of the poor farmers who have been waiting for the promises to turn into reality. Rahul Gandhi proved that his party makes promises which are made to be broken.
