Fake poll surveys being actively spread on Social Media

poll surveys, fake

(PC: Twitter)

With merely two phases to go in the ongoing Lok Sabha polls, it seems that the liberal brigade has totally lost the plot. It is shocking to note that a number of bogus surveys and bizarre poll predictions are being actively spread on social media and WhatsApp.

A portal going by the name of Nagpur Today, published one such report in which it has reported that according to an internal survey conducted by the BJP, the ruling party along with its allies is set to get just 182 Lok Sabha seats. It also stated that the BJP will win only 151 seats on its own. The website further states that the BJP’s internal survey has predicted that the Congress and its allies would end up with 216 seats, with the Congress emerging victorious on 141 seats.

The portal further stated that the results are giving sleepless nights to the BJP-RSS. However, there are no credible sources mentioning any such internal survey conducted by the BJP. What this website claims, seems to be a figment of imagination and a fake report in order to spread disinformation at a crucial juncture with two poll phases still to go. It is not for the first time that this modus operandi has been put into action. It must be noted that prior to the Madhya Pradesh Assembly polls, a bogus surveys in the name of RSS had gone viral. This bogus survey had claimed that the Congress was poised to win 142 seats in the State, while the BJP would be restricted to a meagre 68. The RSS had categorically denied that any such survey was conducted. The organisation had made it clear that it doesn’t conduct surveys for any political party. In fact, the designation of the RSS functionary in whose name the fake survey was spread, doesn’t exist in the RSS. It seems that the same strategy is now being used during the ongoing Lok Sabha polls.

A bizarre poll prediction carried out by Salil Shetty, former Secretary-General at Amnesty International, has predicted that while the Congress and its allies will bag 287 seats in the ongoing polls, the BJP and its allies will be reduced to a mere 256. It seems patently erroneous and a politically motivated poll prediction in order to discourage the BJP workers and supporters.

The liberal brigade seems to have understood that the ongoing polls are unlikely to bring any pleasant results for them. Therefore, they are trying hard to spread disinformation and stage some kind of a miraculous recovery. The bogus surveys and bizarre poll predictions are going to fail miserably. But these elements making fake poll surveys are likely to claim that the EVMs were tampered with once the results are out.
