Rahul Gandhi, Laser

The Congress president visited Amethi to file his nomination and campaign as he is ready to contest from two constituencies. The visit involved a press conference in which a green light laser beam was pointed at Rahul Gandhi. The Congress alleged that it was from a sniper gun while the MHA report has quashed any such claims. As soon as the MHA received the details of the incident it asked the Director (SPG) to verify the facts.

The Home Ministry said “MHA has not yet received any letter regarding the alleged breach in security of Congress President Shri Rahul Gandhi. However, as soon as MHA’s attention was drawn to reports that there was an incident of a “green light” being pointed at him yesterday in Amethi, the Director (SPG) was asked to verify the factual position.”  It turns out that after proper investigation, MHA found that the “green light” was not from any sniper gun. It was the photographer of AICC who was video graphing that reflected the green light.

The Congress had mentioned in its letter to the Home Minister, that the party leader was pointed at with the laser 7 times while he was in Amethi. These allegations and assumptions have been shut down by the Ministry of Home Affairs. The Congress is now trying to entertain its self with baseless controversies. The party letter read “A perusal of his interaction will reflect that a laser was pointed at his head, on at least 7 separate occasions,” The exaggeration of the issue is humorous. The “sniper gun” turned out to be a camera.

Rahul Gandhi was in Amethi to file his nomination. The letter by the Congress Party says that after the leader filed his nomination and attended the media personnel, the laser beam was targeted at him. The Party urged the UP government to keep politics aside and neutralize any threat to party leaders. Such demands were however made on the fact that was proved incorrect by the MHA.

The MHA has answered that no security breach was found and it was faulty perception. The Congress Party however chose to make a mountain out of a mole hill. The party went to an extent of quoting incidences of assassination of the family members. The Congress Party members said that it was distressing and shocking that the fourth generation of the family is also targeted. The Party just doesn’t stop being the flag bearer of nepotism in politics. The members too, feel no shame in playing the family card regularly.

The party claims that Rahul Gandhi is a “high-risk” target and vulnerable to threats in the election process in Lok Sabha 2019. Well, the only risk that the leader poses is to the nation. The only thing he is vulnerable to is his party’s baseless claims. The Congress party is well aware of the loss that is soon to hit them. These new controversies are an attempt to gain sympathy vote from the voters. Congress is hence fighting a battle which it has already lost.
