Fake news spread about PM Modi’s press conference to create fodder for Congress and liberals

These general elections have been witnessing meek attempts from political parties to manufacture and peddle fake narratives to aid their electoral conquest. With parties desperate and peddling fake narratives to save political ground from the BJP, these attempts are failing to stand the test of cores of Indians over social media. These narratives which earlier used to get unopposed traction from elite media circles are now being exposed within a short span over digital platforms.

In a similar incident, a fake circular of the BJP had surfaced which outlined the itinerary for PM Modi’s Varanasi visit for his filing of nomination for the general elections. In the meticulously designed fake circular it mentioned that PM Narendra Modi will be holding a press conference during his visit in Varanasi, however after a number of media outlets had already published the fake news, the facts emerged. Official BJP Spokesperson completely rubbished the fake circular about PM Modi’s press conference n Varanasi.

India Today’s Associate Editor, Poulomi Saha had tweeted: “News of press conference by @narendramodi is completely wrong. BJP has officially denied it. Between 25th and 26th April, there’ll be a roadshow, Ganga aarti, meet with intellectuals and influential persons of #Varanasi and filing of nomination.”

PM Modi has been giving a series of interviews to major media houses in the run-up to the general elections, with its most recent being an apolitical interaction with Indian film industry superstar, Akshay Kumar. These interviews have not gone down well with some ‘liberal’ media houses, who have been perpetually been ignored by PM Modi and Indian citizens, after being exposed a multiple times for their ‘yellow journalism’. Posed to benefit from such fake circulars, Congress and some ‘liberal’ media outlets were fast to make comments on PM Narendra Modi, taking fuel from fake news, which looks meticulously designed and soaked with conspiracy.

Fake news peddlers with their subversion tactics have been successful in misguiding people, perpetually supported by the left media nexus; however, with the penetration of social media, the trend is changing for good. Most of the information that used to go unchecked and unverified now has to face strict scrutiny over digital platforms, with records of over decades available on the click of a button. However this meek attempt to compromise travel plans of the Prime Minister is not only condemnable but also displays the lengths to which the fake news propaganda machinery can go to please their political overlords.
