Mehbooba Mufti rebuked PM Modi for giving a befitting reply to Pakistan’s nuclear blackmail. Modi had said that the nuclear weapons in India are not meant for Diwali. Mehbooba Mufti said that PM Modi “stooped low” and also lowered the level of the country’s political discourse. Mufti said, “If India has not kept nuclear bomb for Diwali, it is obvious Pakistan’s not kept theirs for Eid either. Do not know why PM Modi must stoop so low and reduce political discourse to this.”

On one side the PM Modi is protecting the pride of the country while on the other side politicians like Mehbooba Mufti are aligning with Pakistan and threatening the integrity of India. Mufti, has proven that she is no more representing herself as an Indian politician but as a strong separatist voice from Jammu and Kashmir time and again. In the recent past she has objected on major steps of the central government’s which were for the welfare of the state of J&K. She has continuously attacked the Central government with a separatist tone regarding the removal of Article 370.

The PDP President had said, “If you free Jammu and Kashmir from Article 370, you will free the state from country as well. I have said many times that Article 370 links J&K with the country. When you break this bridge, India loses its legitimacy over the state. It becomes an occupational force”. This reaction was given by the leader in response to the BJP manifesto. She had also mocked the BJP by saying “Why waste time in court. Wait for BJP to scrap Article 370. It will automatically debar us from fighting elections since Indian constitution won’t be applicable to J&K anymore,”

Mufti along with her rude comments was unapologetic about her statements that had a separatist tone. The leader had also referred to J&K as a heap of explosives that should not be played with. She referred to the Pulwama attack to support her statements on Kashmir being an explosive.

Mufti had a strong message to send to the Centre on the removal of the debated Article 370. She claimed that removing article 370 would lead to the Indian Constitution becoming null and void in the region of J&K. In her tweet she quoted the Urdu Poet Allam Iqbal that read, “Na samjho gay tou mit jaouge aye Hindustan walo. Tumhari dastaan tak bhi na hogi dastaano main” (O you people of Hindustan, if you don’t understand, you will perish, your story will be erased from history). The tweet was extremely derogatory and challenges the unity of the nation.

After BJP had decided to break off from Mufti’s People’s Democratic Party, Mufti had blatantly said that any move by the Centre to break PDP will result in creation of more Salahuddins and Yasin Maliks. She said, “If Delhi tries to break the PDP the results will be exceedingly dangerous”She crossed her line when she had said, “If, like in 1987, Delhi hijacks the vote of this state’s people, if this kind of breakup of loyalties is attempted, the manner in which a Salahuddin (or) a Yasin Malik came to the fore will (happen again)… if those in Delhi try to break up the PDP, let there be no doubt the result of that will be exceedingly dangerous.”

Politicians like Mehbooba Mufti are spreading separatism in the already difficult state of Jammu and Kashmir. The comments of such leaders insult the integrity of the Indian Constitution, Indian Government and every Indian. It will encourage the forces who are working in order to break the unity of the country. Terrorist groups like Jais-e-mohmmad and others are encouraged by statements made by such leaders. These leaders seem to be acting exactly like the separatist brigade does.
