It seems that the current election season is turning out to be too hot to handle for the Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, who has made two bizarre remarks in quick succession. In a controversial remark bound to evoke angry reactions, Kumaraswamy has stated that people who don’t have food to eat join the Armed Forces.
The BJP rightly mounted an attack on Kumaraswamy for his irresponsible, bizarre and insensitive remark. The party made it clear that those who join the Armed Forces don’t do so because they are starving but because they love the nation. The BJP also asked why Kumaraswamy does not send his son to the Armed Forces instead of trying to be an MP.
Only a couple of days ago, Kumaraswamy had also made a bizarre remark about Prime Minister Modi. The Karnataka Chief Minister had said, “Modi wakes up every morning, applies makeup or wax to get a shine on his face & sits in front of cameras. But we take bath once in the morning & wash our face only the next day. Our faces don’t look good on cameras. That’s why even media shows only Modi.” Therefore, Kumaraswamy had made a highly distasteful and unfathomable remark about the Prime Minister of the country. It seems that he does not understand how to conduct himself publically and that is why he is making such disgraceful remarks even as the election fever is at its peak.

Ever since Kumaraswamy became the Chief Minister of Karnataka, he has made several bizarre and absurd remarks. Whether it was his comment of being obligated to the Congress and not the people of Karnataka or being caught on tape ordering someone to “mercilessly” avenge the killing of a JD(S) leader, he has been at the centre of several controversies. However, his recent remarks are absurd even by his own standards. He does not seem to understand how to talk about the country’s Prime Minister and the respected institution of the Armed Forces.
It seems that the election season is taking a toll on Kumaraswamy, which explains his dramatic meltdown. He has always been vulnerable to making irresponsible and bizarre statements and with the election heat getting the better of him, the frequency and intensity of his bizarre statements is only going up with every passing day.
