The Modi government boasts of a number of leaders and ministers who possess the excellent skill of communicating their ideas and handling trolls the way they should be. One such leader is Union Minister, Smriti Irani. She has proven time and again that she has the ability to take on trolls at will and tackle the detractors the way they should be tackled. She has been on the target of the liberal brigade and her detractors have taken misogynistic jibes at her consistently. When she exposed Rashid Alvi
During an interview on India TV, Rashid Alvi, speaking as an audience, claimed that Irani is believed to be close to Prime Minister Modi while asking a question. Union Minister, Smriti Irani did not let him get away lightly for the misogynistic comment. She exposed the innuendo in his question and went on to explain that she has to live with such toxicity. This brought to fore the misogynist character that certain political opponents carry in today’s time.
When she exposed media hypocrisy
In an interview with journalist Rahul Kanwal, she spoke about how the media revives past statements and news reports, but no one highlighted that Modi (who was then the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate) had said that he was saddened by what had happened in Godhra (the train burning incident) but that was no excuse for anyone to take law in their hands. Rahul Kanwal then went on to rake up Modi’s propagated comment about every action having an opposite reaction. Irani also exposed how this fake news about Modi having made the action-reaction remark was being spread.
When she mercilessly humbled Barkha Dutt
Barkha Dutt who is known for her anti-BJP bias also became a victim of Irani’s wittiness. Due to Irani’s witty remarks, Barkha Dutt looked extremely uncomfortable with her pointed jibes and calculated answers.
When she took on the liberal brigade for criticising National Anthem during movies
During the debate about playing National Anthem before movies, veteran actor Kamal Haasan stated, “When you play national anthem in cinema theatres, that’s not the place to test it,” while responding to a question asked by Arnab Goswami. Dismissing all the negative propaganda about National Anthem, Irani said, “I don’t think the national anthem is played to test someone’s patriotism. A community of people come together and celebrate that this is the one thing we have in common. We don’t have our languages, culture in common, but the goosebumps we get when national anthem plays is common.”
When she threw out Priyanka’s secretary out of polling booth for meddling with the processes
During her 2014 Lok Sabha poll campaign in Amethi, Irani was the epitome of grace when Priyanka Gandhi was taking digs at her but she aggressively threw Priyanka’s secretary out of the polling booth when she was found meddling with the processes.
