Trouble increases for Congress as Rajiv Saxena turns approver in Augusta Westland scam

Rajiv Saxena, Augusta Westland

In a major breakthrough for the investigating authorities, Rajiv Saxena, notorious for embezzling millions as a middleman in the Augusta Westland scam, has now turned approver, after he received a pardon from the special judge of a Delhi court.

In an application supported by the Enforcement Directorate, Rajiv Saxena sought pardon from the court, and offered to turn approver for the current case. Special judge Arvind Kumar approved the plea and granted him the same. As of now, Rajiv Saxena is out on bail, on medical grounds.

For those unaware, Rajiv Saxena is a middleman, who is accused of indulging in embezzlement of funds and persuading various personalities in the then UPA government to persuade the IAF into purchasing 12 VVIP choppers from Augusta Westland, which caused the national exchequer a loss of approximately Rs. 3600 crores. In connivance with lawyer Gautam Khaitan, Rajiv Saxena played a major role in arranging the deal.

This was the reason why Indian authorities were desperately after Rajiv Saxena. A couple of months ago, in a covert operation on the lines of what we saw in ‘Baby’ movie, Rajiv Saxena was arrested by the local authorities in UAE and handed over to their Indian counterparts. He was extradited in a special plane midnight and later sent to judicial custody, until he came out on bail a couple of weeks ago.

Now that he has turned approver, it is certainly not good news for Congress at all. Desperately trying their best to corner BJP, the last few weeks have turned out to be disastrous for the party. Be it multiple defections by their own leaders in states, or insensitive statements about the airstrikes on terror camps in Pakistan, you name it and Congress has suffered it all.

To make matters worse, Rajiv Saxena has turned approver in the Augusta Westland case. This means that like Christian Michel, Rajiv can reveal the major names involved in the scam, who are currently either a part of Congress or acting as cheerleaders for them.  Going by the current situation, this news is bound to create panic among those guilty of robbing the hard earned money of Indian taxpayers. The clock is ticking.
