In the run-up to the Lok Sabha election of 2014, Priyanka Vadra attacked PM Modi (then BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate) for belonging to a lower caste. Now five years after that incident, brother Rahul takes forward the casteist remark and painted the entire OBC community in a bad light. It seems that the devastating defeat of 2014 Lok Sabha election was not enough for these arrogant and there is a strong need for another lesson.

Speaking at a rally in Ranchi, Jharkhand, Congress President Rahul Gandhi attacked PM Modi and alleged him of vague corruption charges. During his speech, Rahul Gandhi said, “Accha mujhe ek baat samjhao, in sab choro ke naam Modi kyun hain? Lalit Modi, Nirav Modi, Narendra Modi (Tell me one thing, why all these corrupts have a common surname? Lalit Modi, Nirav Modi, Narendra Modi”.

It seems that after being rattled on various issues including the Rafale deal row, the fake statistics of unemployment and terror attacks in Pulwama, the Gandhi scion resorted to what he does best and that is splashing mud on others and being a hypocrite. Earlier to this, Rahul Gandhi had asked PM Modi to debate with him on corruption. However, he keeps backing off when PM Modi challenges him.

Moreover, the statement is not a shocking one as he is just following his younger sister. In the run-up to the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Priyanka Vadra gained maximum attention when she charged the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi, of practicing ‘Neech Politics’ (low-level politics). She had said, “Inhone Amethi ki dharti pe mere shaheed pitaa ka apmaan kiya hai, Amethi ki janta iss harkat ko kabhi maaf nahi karegi. Inki neech rajniti ka jawaab mere booth ke karyakarta denge… Amethi ke ek ek booth se jawaab aayega (they have insulted my martyred father on the soil of Amethi. People of Amethi will never forgive them for this act. Workers in Amethi will reply to their low-level politics. There will be a reply from each of the booths).” She made such a harsh comment in response to Narendra Modi’s remarks where he rightly accused the Congress of practicing the politics of “arrogance” and stated the fact that when Rajiv Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s father, was General Secretary of the Congress, he had publicly “abused” and “humiliated” the then Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister T Anjaiahat at the airport.

In response to Priyanka Gandhi’s neech rajniti remark, Narendra Modi had replied, “I belong to a lower caste of society, that’s why they think my politics is low-level politics.” He had further said, “This low-level politics will rescue our country from 60 years of misrule and vote-bank politics, and wipe the tears of millions.”

Gone are the days when people used to get swayed away by the Gandhi surname. The India of today is different and it is focused on sustained development, visionary ideas and strict governance, which can’t be expected from the grand old party and especially from Rahul Gandhi.
