If there is one love story that is way more interesting than the likes of Romeo and Juliet, or Heer and Ranjha, it has to be undoubtedly the relation between the Congress’ first family and their workers. Come what may, a Congress member can leave this world, but not his / her masters. The devotion towards the one family that rules this party is something no other political party in India can match as of now.
A recent statement by one Congress member has displayed the servile mentality of the party workers towards the welfare of the Nehru Gandhi dynasty, who think they’re entitled to rule India. According to senior leader from Kerala Congress PC Chacko, India is indebted to the Nehru Gandhi dynasty, as they’re the ‘first family of India’ and the masses are obliged to vote for them.
To quote the statement of PC Chacko, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has kind of a negative opinion for the first family of India; the first family of India is truly the first family of India. India is obliged to them. The Prime Minister was speaking about India’s adventure in space. The fact is, India is India today because of the planning and leadership of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.”
This is not all. PC Chacko further added, “When India became free, what was the situation? (Narendra) Modi doesn’t know history. India was made self-sufficient through the green revolution, white revolution. Everything happened during Panditji’s time (Nehru). Panditji’s contribution and (Gandhi) family’s contribution cannot be erased.”
Before going on any further about the servile mentality of such Congress leaders, let us have a simple fact check first. The White Revolution was not due to the policies of Jawaharlal Nehru, but due to the efforts of countless farmers from Gujarat, led by scientist Dr. Verghese Kurien, who led them in their efforts to become self sufficient in milk production.
Moreover, the so called Green Revolution actually became possible due to the humble efforts of Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri, who apparently gave his go ahead to the plan even when India faced a war with Pakistan in 1965. It is another fact that Indira Gandhi later claimed credit for the same. For India’s current achievements in space, it is all because of the efforts of ISRO, which was established in 1969, 5 years after the death of Jawaharlal Nehru.
Coming back to PC Chacko, though atrocious, this statement was not entirely unexpected from him. For a party, where your relation to the Nehru Gandhi dynasty is valued more than merit, this is just routine business. Besides, when the current Congress President has made statements like ‘If India is a computer, Congress is its default software’, one should not be too surprised by the statement of PC Chacko.
However, it is time that the people should send a message loud and clear: the seat for the Prime Minister is something that shall be chosen only on merit and not by some entitled brat whose sole claim to fame is that he / she is a part of the first family.
