Speaking at the public meeting in Khichdipur village of Patparganj assembly, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that 85% of the seats should be reserved for the students of Delhi in government universities and jobs. He went on to add that people of Delhi will have to fight together for the full statehood stature. Kejriwal also stated that once Delhi becomes a full state, he will give 85% reservation for the students in Delhi colleges and 85% reservation in government jobs will be given. However, it seems that this reservation promise is nothing but a blatant attempt to marginalize the migrant community in Delhi especially from UP and Bihar which constitutes a sizeable chunk of Delhi’s population.

Kejriwal further added, “Today even after getting 90% marks, Delhi candidates find it difficult to get admission in any college in Delhi. In all other states, 85% of seats are reserved for their candidates”. Not to forget that Delhi hosts 5 central universities and this move of Kejriwal is not only exclude the students from other states get admission but also deteriorate the environment and quality of these elite universities.

Moreover, Kejriwal fails to realize that Delhi is the national capital and as such every Indian has equal opportunity and right to be in the city. Moreover, he added that new universities and colleges would be started once it becomes full state and students with 60% marks will also be able to get admission in good colleges. By giving such a statement, Kejriwal is directly mainstreaming the mediocrity. The intelligent voters of Delhi should understand that it is just another political gimmick of the AAP supremo.

Kejriwal is, as usual, trying to convert an apolitical issue into a political issue just to get some media attention. Full statehood is not going to benefit the people of the national capital in any way. It will give more power in the hands of the power lusty. He wants to hide his record of poor governance behind the veil of the demand for full statehood to Delhi. He doesn’t want to work and always looks for a reason to not work.

After the Congress party declined the offer of a coalition with AAP this is another desperate attempt of Kejriwal for his political survival. He is losing his relevance fast. Now Kejriwal’s life has come to a full circle. He built the foundation of AAP by carrying huge protests against the mega scams like 2G and CWG but recently he desperately wanted to form an alliance with the same Congress party whom he earlier accused of these scams.

Kejriwal is a Chief Minister who speaks on all the issues, be it national or global apart from issues concerning the public. He has broken all the promises which he made and now he is making more promises to the people of Delhi only to break them in the future. On top of that, the exclusionary rhetoric and promoting regionalism is a new low in Kejriwal’s politics.
