While Sadguru bats for stricter action, Delhi govt. sits on files to save Tukde-Tukde gang

Delhi Government, Tukde-Tukde

Even as the nation stands united ever since the Pulwama terror attack revealed the nefarious designs of Pakistan and the subsequent airstrikes boosted the morale of the nation, certain political outfits within India seem to be adamant at protecting separatist and anti-national elements within India. In an event that displays the unwillingness of the AAP government in Delhi to proceed with the 2016 JNU sedition case, a Delhi court has reportedly slammed the Kejriwal government for not granting sanction to prosecute the former JNUSU president, Kanhaiya Kumar and others in the JNU sedition case.

The Investigating Officer (IO) informed the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Deepak Sherawat that the state government has not yet granted the required sanction in order to prosecute the accused. The CMM said, “You (Delhi police) took three years (for filing charge sheet). Now they (Delhi government) will also take three years (for granting sanctions)… Whether sanction has been granted or not I will proceed with the case.” The Kejriwal government has not granted the prosecution even though the Court had earlier directed the Delhi Police to ask the authorities to expedite the process. The Court had granted three weeks to procure sanction to proceed with prosecution against Kanhaiya Kumar & Co.

Last month, the Court had rebuked the Delhi government for withholding sedition sanction. The Court had also asked Delhi Police to get Delhi government led by Arvind Kejriwal to expeditiously provide sanction for JNU case charge sheet, adding that the ‘govt can’t stop the file’.

The Kejriwal government had on its part claimed that no files related to the JNU sedition case had been presented before any Delhi minister, while the police maintained that they had applied for the sanction on January 14. However, according to official records, the file was received by the Home Department of Delhi. The file related to JNU sedition case was first sent to the Additional Secretary (Home) and then to Principal Secretary (Home) on January 14. On January 21, the file moved to the Additional Secretary (Home), and then it reached to the Principal Secretary (Home). It seems that the file was being sent from one office to another for no clear reason. It was a vicious circle and only seemed like a delaying tactic and nothing else.

Even as the AAP government is shamelessly protecting the Tukde-Tukde gang, Sadhguru has come out all guns blazing against the Tukde-Tukde gang. He has stated that Kanhaiya & Co. should not be allowed to walk on the streets. He expressed dismay about how the Tukde-Tukde gang was hogging the limelight. He has made it clear that national sentiment allows the country to take appropriate action against all such elements which speak in the language of dividing the nation. Sadhguru has made a strong statement and the Delhi government should take a cue from him when it comes to respecting the national sentiment and understanding that the emotions of the countrymen are running high.
