Yes, Habeebur Rahman was attacked, he was also from a minority community but so were the assailants

Minority, Tamil Nadu

(PC: Twitter)

In Tamil Nadu, Congress’ Ramanathapuram District Minority Chairman Habeebur Rahman was attacked by some anti-social elements. The Congress exploited the unfortunate incident to play the minority in danger card. They asked, “Are minority people in Tamil nadu safe.”

The Congress also attached the FIR to the tweet which interestingly shows that the victim was attacked by other minority people. According to FIR, accused are also Muslims. So if the so-called minority group is unsafe, who are they unsafe from?

Habeebur Rahman was attacked by Seeni Khader, Sarthar, Fakrudhin, Altaf, and Rafiq. The Congress party is unnecessarily giving a communal twist to the incident.

When Ramalingam was brutally murdered in Kumbakonam town, Tamil Nadu, the Congress was sleeping. It seems that the Congress’ expresses sorrow, anger and outrage by looking at the religion or ideology of the victim first.

Minorities are safe in Tamil Nadu, but the same cannot be said for the majority group. Ramalingam was murdered by radical Islamists as he fought against their attempts to religiously convert residents of a Hindu Dalit community.

Ramalingam, a member of the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) party, had been brutally murdered by a group of unidentified men. His hands were chopped off with billhooks. He died due to excessive bleeding on the way to a hospital. The attack against Ramalingam happened after he was seen in a video where he is seen arguing with the Islamist preachers asking them not to convert people into Islam.

The Daily Pioneer had quoted a local resident saying, “Within hours of the argument, a group of people barged into the residence of Ramalingam and attacked him with knives and swords. They chopped one of his hands and a leg.” Tweeting about the incident, BJP Tamil Nadu president Tamilisai Soundararajan had said, “Ramalingam was killed the next day he prevented religious conversion. The culprits should be punished.”

According to a Swarajya report, a total of eight people have been arrested in connection with the murder. They have been identified as S Nijam Ali, Sarbudeen, Rizwan, Mohamed Azarudeen and Mohamed Raiyaz, Mohammed Toufiq, Mohammed Parvez and Touhid Basha.

The police FIR reads, “…as a warning to people who are part of rationalist movements, people from other religions and the general public who engage in activities against Allah, Muhammed Nabi or Islam.” The FIR further reads, “They have also committed the crime to convey the message that whoever — Muslim or otherwise — speaks against Allah or Islam will be killed in a way similar to Jihad so that nobody else dares to talk about the religion or Allah.”

It’s the majority which needs to be protected from the tyranny of the minority, and not the other way round. Hindus are unsafe in Tamil Nadu. Common people have hit the streets and are demanding justice for Ramalingam. However, there is no outrage from the media’s side, there is no news debate, and no award wapsi condemning this brutal and barbaric act of the killing of an innocent man.
