Rahul Gandhi’s sexist and misogynist remarks continue

Rahul Gandhi, misogynist

As the 2019 Lok Sabha elections are around the corner, and the way things are unfolding, the upcoming elections are set to become one of the most bitterly fought elections in the history of India. Ocean of venom might be spewed against the political opponents and derogatory remarks against bête noire to become new normal. Genuine news will be presented as fake news and vice versa. The glimpse of all this is already visible in campaign speeches of politicians. The process has already begun and it will intensify with every passing day. So far, the biggest victim of all this political hate campaign has been PM Modi and his cabinet ministers.

The Congress ecosystem including the rabble-rouser party Chief Rahul Gandhi has been shamelessly running a hate campaign against BJP and its leaders. The latest tweet of Rahul Gandhi exposes the misogynist mindset of the Congress president. Gandhi scion tweeted, “With all due respect Modi Ji, in our culture respect for women begins at home. Stop shaking. Be a man and answer my question: Did the Air Force and Defence Ministry object when you bypassed the original Rafale deal? Yes? Or No?”

The statement “Be a Man and answer” demeans all the female office holders of the nation, be it Indira Gandhi, Pratibha Patil, Nirmala Sitharaman, Smriti Irani, etc. It appears as if Rahul Gandhi has forgotten that when his father was assassinated, the entire Congress party pleaded to her mother to lead the party. The same happened in 1998. Even now many Congress leaders demand Rahul Gandhi’s sister, Priyanka Gandhi to lead the party. In all these scenarios, no one took a jibe at the Congress saying that the grand old party tried to hide behind a woman.

Recently, Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman exposed the lies of Congress President on Rafale deal and earlier Sushma Swaraj too had slammed him in the parliament during the so-called Lalitgate issue.

Rahul Gandhi must understand that it is not necessary to be a man in order to answer questions. If Rahul thinks that only man can answer questions then he simply appears to be representing the misogynist mindset, and this also shows the character and culture of the present day Congress party.

Earlier, Rahul Gandhi’s male chauvinist character was at its peak at a rally in Jaipur on Wednesday, where he said, “The Prime Minister with the 56-inch-chest didn’t come even once to the people’s court – the Parliament. We smashed the Raksha Mantri’s speech. 56-inch-chest Prime Minister said to a woman ‘protect me’.”

Hours later, PM Modi at a rally in Agra hailed Nirmala Sitharaman for her achievement and lambasted the Congress president for insulting her. He said, “Two-three days ago you’d have seen in Parliament – We’re proud that our daughter of our nation who has for the first time become the country’s Raksha Mantri and for the first time a woman is handling the protection and security of 125 crore citizens. This is a matter of women’s pride and progress. And when our Raksha Mantri, a woman, smashed Opposition parties’ leaders out of the park, exposed all their lies — you would have seen their eyes were torn asunder. And our Raksha Mantri, one-by-one, put the truth on the floor of the house. They were so shocked, they have been reduced to insulting a woman – a woman Raksha Mantri. This isn’t just an insult to the Raksha Mantri, it’s an insult to India’s Nari Shakti, and these irresponsible politicians will have to pay the price for this.”

The National Commission for Women also took cognizance of the Congress chief’s sexist remark. Rekha Sharma, NCW Chairperson, tweeted, “Does he think women are weak? The irony- calling an accomplished defense minister of the largest democracy a weak person.”

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj also berated Rahul Gandhi for his misogynist remark against Raksha Mantri Nirmala Sitharaman. She tweeted, “Rahul Gandhi’s comments on Defence Minister Nirmala Sitaraman’s reply to a debate on a subject relating to Ministry of Defence is a new low in the history of Indian politics.”

Rahul Gandhi is aware of the fact that he cannot win a logical and sensible debate against Defence Minister, and hence he seems to have shifted the goalpost by making personal comments against her. Rahul Gandhi’s acts are immature and disgraceful and also shows how the misogynist mindset of the Congress President is.
