When it comes to spinning simple, innocuous stories into sensationalist, click-bait headlines, Lutyens’ media is in a league of its own. The audacity with which Lutyens’ media lies through its teeth, is unmatchable and seems that it has done it again.

During an interview with ANI, PM Modi responding to the question if the ordinance is a problem as was brought in the case of Triple Talaq and why Ram Mandir has just been relegated to an emotive issue for BJP, said, “Triple Talaq Ordinance was brought after SC verdict, in the light of SC verdict. We have said in our BJP manifesto that a solution would be found to this issue under the Constitutional framework. Nobody can deny it that those sitting in the governments in the last 70 years have tried their best to stall a solution to this issue. Even today, the matter is before the Supreme Court. In a way, it has reached its final stage. I beseech the Congress, for national peace and amity, that they should stop its lawyers from stalling this in the court, not create obstacles, and all lawyers, those Congress ones, should together head to the court and ensure that there is early judicial verdict . In court, Congress lawyers, who are creating obstacles, should stop. Let the judicial process take its own course. Don’t weigh it in political terms. Let the judicial process be over. After the judicial process is over, whatever be our responsibility as a government, we are ready to make all efforts.”

However, the Lutyens’ media gave a spin to the statement to make it appear as if PM Modi refused to bring the ordinance which is clearly not the case. In fact, PM Modi concluded by saying that his government is ready to make all sorts of efforts once the judicial process gets over. It is a clear indication that legislative routes such as an ordinance could only come into the picture, once the ongoing legal process concludes. More importantly, PM Modi’s statement has come just before the apex court’s hearing on the Ayodhya title dispute case on January 4.

The RSS has also welcomed the statement by PM Modi on Ram Temple. The RSS tweeted, “We feel that the statement by Prime Minister is a positive step in the direction of Temple Construction. The Prime Minister reiterating the resolve to construct a grand Sri Ram Temple in Ayodhya in his interview is in tune with the resolution passed by BJP at Palampur in 1989.” It further said, “In this resolution, the BJP had stated that they would try to construct the grand Sri Ram Temple at Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya through mutual dialogue between the two communities or by enabling required legislation.”

The RSS also said, “Even in the 2014 Election Manifesto prepared under the leadership of Shri Narendra Modi, the BJP promised to explore all possibilities within the framework of the Constitution to facilitate the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.”

Dattatreya Hosabale, the joint general secretary of the RSS, issued a statement. He said, “The people of Bharat have reposed complete confidence and gave BJP the full mandate. The people of Bharat expect this government to fulfil the same promise during this tenure.”

Senior RSS leader Bhaiyyaji Joshi said, “We’ve have kept forward our demand to make a law in this regard. Every person in our country wants Ram temple constructed. Even those who are in power have said that Ram temple should be constructed.”

The Lutyens’ media as always has resorted to its old tactic of concoction. On the other hand, PM Modi’s statement makes it clear that the Congress party has always been spearheading the anti-temple bloc. In its 60 years of rule, it not only has stalled the construction of the temple but also politicised the issue for its own electoral gains.
