Popular survey agency Pew in its recent research has found out an interesting fact amongst the graduates of the USA. According to recent research by Pew, the Sanatan community [Hindus] is one of the most educated religious group in the US, way ahead of even the atheists and agnostics.
According to a new study, marking the four-year college degree as a definite parameter, the Pew research study has observed that the Sanatanis are the most educated amongst all the religious groups in the USA, followed by Unitarians Universalists, Jews, Anglicans, and Episcopalians. Even the atheists and agnostics were way behind the Sanatanis in this study.
According to the research study, the Sanatani Hindus have the largest share among those with college degrees, with approximately 77% of the entire Hindu population in the USA possessing the same. The Unitarian Universalists, which is a religious community that claims no association with any creed and draws inspiration from a wide range of sacred scriptures, came a close second, with 67% of graduates. The Jew community stood third with Anglicans jointly at 59%, followed by atheists, agnostics, Muslims and Roman Catholics etc.
The Pew study also made a strong connection between the high education and the wealth of the Sanatani and Jewish communities. To quote an excerpt from the report, which also cited points from its previous study of 2014, “Given the strong correlation between educational attainment and economic success, it is not surprising that Jews and Hindus, on average, have high household incomes, with four-in-ten Jews (44%) and roughly a third of Hindus (36%) living in households with annual incomes of at least $100,000”
The research study isn’t far from the truth either. Though the USA doesn’t keep an official count of its population based on religion, it is estimated that close to 3 million of its 325 million people are Sanatani Hindus, which runs to an official figure of around 0.7%.
Not only is the Sanatan community one of the most educated in the USA, but they’re also amongst one of the most powerful emerging communities of the USA. While some of their most iconic software companies are run by Hindus [for e.g. Google is run by Sundar Pichai and Microsoft by Satya Nadella], Tulsi Gabbard, a distinguished member from the House of Representatives, representing the constituency of Hawaii, is rumored to run for the Presidential elections in 2020.
Likewise, it wouldn’t be a surprise if one of the most assertive democracies of the world is one day administered by a Sanatani Hindu. If that happens, one person would be the happiest, and that is Swami Vivekananda, who rekindled the love for Sanatan Dharma on this very land, way back in the 1890s.
