Facebook has given a free hand to anti-BJP pages to spread fake news with total impunity

Facebook Fake News

In order to curb the menace of fake news on Facebook, the company launched its India-based fact-checking initiative by partnering with Mumbai-based fact-checking organisation BoomLive. Boomlive and Facebook seem to be doing a terrible job at curbing portals and platforms infamous for sharing fake news. Fun fact – Boomlive is affiliated to India Spend, an organization notorious for spreading misinformation and twisting facts, and has been exposed many times.

In October last year Facebook announced that it had hired Trushar Barot, a veteran journalist from the BBC stables. in order to combat fake information. Recently Barot was found defending BBC’s bogus report on fake news- titled “Beyond Fake news” which was heavily biased against the right-wingers.  Rightlog.in was one of the portals highlighted in the BBC report too without using referencing any of our alleged fake news stories. Funnily, ‘The Better India’ a media portal which is known for featuring positive news about India was also accused of spreading fake news by the BBC in their report.

For more details: The Better India demands a public apology from BBC

As a part of their crusade against Fake News, Facebook has begun its relentless crackdown on right wing pages, portals and personalities however pages affiliated to left wing ideology seem to be immunised from it.

Here is a comprehensive list of fake news spread by pages affiliated to left-wing forces. And these are not one-time wonders, most of them are compulsive and habitual fake news peddlers.

1.) Alok Verma calls Narendra Modi the most corrupt prime minister of Independent India

4.) The photo used in the post is actually an old photo from Shahjahanpur where bricks with Sri Ram written on them were used in the construction of the drains. This is just the tip of iceberg and these are fairly recent posts. The truth is that while right wingers are always under the scanner of Facebook, the portal takes no action against the anti-BJP pages. These spread fake news openly without any fear of getting banned or unpublished by the social media giant whose liberal bias is stuff of legends now

Facebook suspended instant articles access of tfipost.com for no apparent reason. After a long fight of over 5 months we managed to get FB instant back. This is how bias looks like. And Boomlive is up to no good!
