Goa Congress chief stoops to new low, mocks ailing CM Manohar Parrikar

Republic Day 2019 was celebrated with great zeal and gusto. While the ‘Uri’ wave has refused to subside, the masses, including the participants in the surgical strike, are responding warmly to the resurgence of the patriotic sentiments generated by the movie ‘Uri’.

Despite being gravely ill, and having medical instruments attached to his nose, Manohar Parrikar surprised the crowd when he attended the inauguration of the Atal Setu, built upon the Mandovi river. When he quoted the iconic war cry and the classic dialogue of Uri, ‘How’s the Josh?’, the overwhelmed crowd enthusiastically responded, ‘HIGH SIR!’. The former Defence Minister then responded, “I will transfer my josh to you and sit here and speak a few words.”

This enthusiasm, as developed by the ailing CM of Goa, is not only overwhelming, but also inspiring. Even in the face of possible death, he has enough courage to go out and join the masses, sharing their joy and enthusiasm with elan. However, not everyone was impressed with his bold appearance.

Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Girish Chodankar said this about Parrikar’s appearance, “First the CM should come into Hosh, Then He should talk about Josh” This was a clear reference to Parrikar’s battle against pancreatic cancer, for which he was discharged by AIIMS a few months ago.

If someone thought Congress couldn’t stoop any lower, they just proved us wrong. Mocking the Chief Minister who is battling a life-threatening disease, just because he doesn’t belong to a particular school of thought, is not only atrocious but absolutely crass, to say the least. However, this is not the first time Manohar Parrikar had to face such insulting jibes.

When he was battling against cancer in AIIMS, the very Pradesh Congress Committee had visited the Governor to stake claim for the government, despite the allies of NDA standing resolutely against them. In a repeat of the NTR fiasco, they spread fake news about Manohar Parrikar being dead and BJP trying to hide the news, just so that Congress could come into power.  Former Union Minister and Goa leader Jaipal Reddy went a step further, as he atrociously compared CM Parrikar to a leech, sticking to the chair of the CM just like PM Modi.

Ramdhari Singh Dinkar had hit the right note when he said “Jab Naash Manuj Par Chhaata Hai, Vivek Pehle Mar Jaata Hai” (A person on the verge of destruction loses his conscience first). It is the same with Congress, especially with their supremo Rahul Gandhi. Only a couple of weeks ago, he had the audacity to frame Manohar Parrikar for the hoax of ‘Rafale scam’.

Now, as he paid a visit to the ailing CM, his own state chief has the audacity to mock the health of the incumbent CM just so that he could get some votes. It seems that our ‘wannabe PM’ doesn’t know how to cover up the tracks well. We only wonder as to how long do we have to endure these antics in the name of politics.
