Hindu traditions are under attack from anti-Hindu media and liberal-leftist lobby. Last year, the cabal targeted Kanwar Yatra and this year they are casting an evil eye on Kumbh Mela. In a series of attack on the age-old beautiful tradition of Kumbh Mela, the Business Standard has published an article targeting the Kumbh Mela. The writer of the article has made some bizarre assumptions. He claimed that such a huge gathering is only possible if the unemployment rate is high. Last year also Business Standard published an article targeting Kanwariyas.

Anti-Hindu media and leftist intellectuals have a special problem with those Hindus who are not apologetic of being Hindu and have the courage to celebrate their faith and celebrate their tradition with great enthusiasm. The media and the liberal-leftist lobby have no problem with Muslims performing Namaaz on roads, highways and open spaces which result in heavy traffic and chaos and sometimes create a riot like situation and also affect the productivity of the nation as the traveling by road becomes difficult and long traffic jams result in high consumption of petrol and time.

These elite and privileged people living in their ivory towers think that everyone who respects and follows his/her Hindu traditions religiously is unemployed and lacks intellect. For them, devout Hindus are unemployed and jobless. “If everyone had decent jobs, rally maidans would be largely empty and, save for babas and curious foreigners and devout senior citizens, not very many would spare time for Kumbh,” tweeted Business Standard.

However, the reality is that most of the devout Hindus who participate in these religious gatherings earn more money than these urban elites who even after working more than 12 years in call centres fail to fulfill all their needs. Many of them have more wealth and property than the Lutyens’ journalists who even after doing yellow journalism for years and doing the bidding of their political masters do not have enough money to buy a home of their own and are still living on doles rolled out by their political masters.

The article published in Business Standard clearly misses the point of the Kumbh Mela and the faith associated with it. Those who complain about increasing intolerance in the country are now getting intolerant. They are attacking freedom of Hindu devotees to practice their faith. They are disrespecting the constitution which guarantees the individual to practice his faith. The idea of India is in danger.

And as far as employment generation is concerned, according to the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), the Yogi government is expected to generate more than Rs 1.2 lakh crore revenue through the Kumbh Mela. The CII report states, “Although the Kumbh Mela is spiritual and religious in nature, the economic activities associated with it generate employment for over six lakh workers across various sectors.”

The CII report further states that the hospitality sector aims at employing 2,50,000 people, airlines and airports around 1,50,000 and tour operators around 45,000. The employment numbers in eco-tourism and medical tourism are being estimated at 85,000. Apart from this, 55,000 thousand new jobs would be created in the informal sector. Hindu religious activity like is employing far more people than the media houses employ in their organizations based in cities.

Overall, all these articles targeting gathering of Hindu pilgrims is a desperate and failed attempt to connect it with some sort of imaginary job crisis. As far as the writer of these articles is concerned, he has gained a reputation of the unofficial spokesperson of the Congress with the help of his writing.
