In the wake of the Sabarimala issue, the Communist government of Kerala seems to be launching a brutal crackdown on innocent Bhagwan Ayyappa devotees. Be it the defiling of the sacred Sabarimala shrine to assaulting and stoning Ayyappa devotees, Communists have done it all with power in their hands.

Today, BJP MPs are protesting against the highhandedness and brutality unleashed by the Communist government in Kerala. The protest is being carried out near the Gandhi statue outside of the Parliament building.

On the Sabarimala issue, the Communist government under CM Pinarayi Vijayan is trying its best to portray the saffron party in a bad light.

Going one step further, the Communist government of the state arrested various activists and leaders of the BJP. The BJP State Secretary Krishnakumar was slapped with 4 cases for protesting against the verdict of Supreme Court. Also, more than 5000 cases had been registered against Bhagwan Ayyappa devotees. In another instance, Communist goons killed a devotee named Chandran Unnithaan, but state government claimed that he died due to a heart attack while the police report revealed that it was a murder. Subsequently, State Mahila Morcha General Secretary of BJP, Advocate Nivedita had also been arrested from her house for chanting the Ayyappa mantra in Kerala. On the other hand, CPI (M) goons who pelt bombs are roaming free in the state.

Again, a senior RSS worker, Chandrasekharan was manhandled and his house was thrashed to the ground by group CPI (M) goons in Kannur. More than 20 offices of BJP, RSS, and BMS offices were thrashed down and protesters were violently attacked. Further, these goons destroyed the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj that too in the land of Adi Shankaracharya, is nothing but an act of challenging the Hindu self-respect. Shivaji Maharaj is an icon of Renaissance & ‘Hindu’ awakening.

In one more such incident, Branch Secretary of CPI (M) Athul Raj pelted stones and vandalized a Mosque in Perambra, Kozhikode and this was done to frame the Hindu organisations for the crime. His vicious effort was to put blame on RSS/BJP cadres and thereby to create communal riots across the state. Finally, the leader was arrested by the Kerala Police.

The recent development in the Sabarimala issue is suggestive of the fact that Communists are not fit to govern the state. The “big” question here is whether we still need the Marxist ideology which was rejected by more than 130 countries of the world.

BJP and its sister organisations are peacefully protesting and registering their protests against the state government. These protests are reflective of the general mood in the state, especially of the women, who were disenchanted by the SC’s verdict allowing the entry of women between 10-50 years of age. The Hindu unity on this issue is not specific to any particular class but cuts across the barriers of gender, caste, and class. The Hindus seem to be united in order to safeguard their beliefs and the age-old tradition which the Kerala government is hell-bent on destroying.
