Zakir Musa moves from Punjab to Rajasthan, another Congress ruled state

The Rajasthan Police have been put on high alert following input from security agencies about suspected movements of dreaded terrorist Zakir Musa in Sriganganagar district. According to a Times of India report, the intelligence agencies had issued a letter to all Station House officers (SHOs) of Sriganganagar district warning them about mounting a strict vigil around sensitive areas especially near inter-state borders of Punjab and army areas. Sriganganagar district also shares border with Pakistan.

The TOI has quoted an official saying, “The alert was issued in accordance with input shared by special agencies. A similar intelligence input was issued ahead of the assembly elections.” The official further said, “It is suspected that the terrorist on the run could target army installations on Rajasthan Punjab border. Both the state police are in touch with each other for better monitoring.” He further added that in the past multiple alerts have been issued about Zakir Musa’s movement in Rajasthan.

Zakir Musa was earlier spotted in Congress-ruled Punjab. As per the inputs by intelligence, Zakir Musa may have disguised himself as a Sikh to save himself from the Indian security agencies.

Zakir Musa is the founder and chief of terrorist organization of Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind. This terrorist organization is Al-Qaeda cell operating in Jammu and Kashmir. Zakir Musa is also the former commander of terrorist organization Hizbul Mujahideen.

In an audio message, Zakir Musa described his mission. He had said, “Our targets are Indian army, J&K police, top officials of the Indian government, Indian diplomats, politicians. Besides, we would target every person, who works as a spy for the Indian government and hurts the Kashmir jehad.” Zakir Musa had also threatened to “liberate India” from the Hindus.

The appearance of Zakir Musa in Congress ruled states cannot be a mere coincidence as the lawlessness and appeasement that the Congress is infamous for seems to be making a return in Rajasthan and the other two states where the Congress managed to wrest the power recently. Recently, a Congress leader of Jammu and Kashmir said that if the Congress manages to form the government in the state then it will compensate the families of the terrorists killed in the state.

The incumbent government has taken many bold steps to curb the menace of terrorism and ensure national security. However, the previous government adopted a lackluster approach towards the national security of India. There were many major deadly terror attacks- the bombing of multiple trains in Mumbai in July 2006, September 2008 Delhi bombings, 26/11 Mumbai terror attack, 2010 Pune German Bakery Bombing etc- happened under the UPA between 2004 to 2014. The national security of the country improved with the advent of NDA government in 2014.

Many media reports indicating lawlessness is coming from the three states of Hindi heartland won by the Congress party. The artificial shortage of Urea also points to the fact that the mafia is back in these states as well. During urea distribution on Monday in the Guna district, the police carried out a lathi charge on the protesting farmers. It is very disheartening that the local administration had to take such measures as the Congress came to power in the state after raking up the issue of farm distress. In Rajasthan too things aren’t any different. Gehlot government appointed Mohammad Saleh as the cabinet Minister. Saleh was involved in many controversies. In May 2013, he had beaten a police constable during the police’s anti-liquor mafia operations called Operation Welcome. On May 17, when police chased touts who were creating troubles for tourists and extorting money from them, they hid in the petrol pump owned by Saleh Mohammad. When the police tried to catch the touts, owner of the petrol pump who was present there at that time, called police constable in his room and beat him badly. A Pakistan spy was an employee at the petrol pump owned by him.
